Wings/Bruins Notes Before Tonight's Game

10/15/2014 at 10:30am EDT

The puck drops just after 8:00pm ET and is exclusive to NBCSN in the US and is on TVA and SN1 in Canada.

Also, look for a new look live blog tonight, submitted by a KK member.

Detroit could use some goals from players like Franzen, Zetterberg and Tatar. The team has only scored 4 goals in three games but on the plus side, have given up on 4 goals.

Dan Rosen of NHL.com previews the game..

Here are five things to watch in the second of five games between the Bruins and Red Wings this season:

The Red Wings are trying to use their speed -- Detroit wants to be one of the faster teams in the League in order to gain more time with the puck and better scoring chances.

The Red Wings speed worked to their advantage against the Bruins last week, when they controlled the play for most of the game by holding onto the puck. They outshot the Bruins 24-17, including 20-9 through two periods, when they built their 2-1 lead that stuck until the final buzzer. They had 46 shot attempts to the Bruins' 29.

"We haven't scored a lot yet and I still think we're going to score," Babcock said, "but I think we're a way, way quicker team [than last season]."

Joe Haggerty of CSNNE with the mindset of the Bruins as they start a road trip tonight against the Wings...

The Bruins put together an intense, physical, hard-working 90-minute practice on Tuesday afternoon at Ristuccia Arena, and now they’ll head to Detroit, Montreal and Buffalo for three games in four days. It will be the first time the Bruins have left Boston for an extended period of time since the beginning of training camp, and it’s something the players and coaches hope will help the team form an even stronger bond.

“Our record is pretty bad . . . 1-3. I thought we played a decent game last game. If we play like that [against the Red Wings] and put some pucks in the net then we’ll come out with the win,” said David Krejci. “We just need to play the same way, crash the net and get a win. It’s a bad record, but this road trip could help us get back on track.

“This is our first long road trip. We can get away, start playing some road hockey, and we don’t have to put on a show, or be fancy. It’s about just playing a hard game, putting some pucks on the net, get some goals and get a win. This could be a turning point for our season, and we’re looking forward to it.”
