Helm with a promotion to the top line, a freebie goal courtesy of Mantha, and a suspension-worthy slash to Lindholm’s calf. Sounds about right.  rolleyes

And Blashill returned to his “roots” with the line-blender. This guy is beyond clueless. If he makes it to the end of the year, I may have to change my mind about Stevie Y’s management expertise.

For the first time in over a year, I didn’t watch the end of a Wings game. I found a rerun of Chicago P.D. to be more interesting. But that may have something to do with Marina Squerciati (officer Kim Burgess).  smile

I made it half way through the second and dozed. Thank goodness for the mighty sandman!
Kate said itbest last night in the live blog: Ya. The panic blender is starting a bit early… ohh.

Well we should of been prepared for those results prior to the game starting with the blender button.stuck on the high crushed ice selection. Bingo Balls aaawaaaaaaaayyyyy!

Helm with that home run swing to that guys leg was something I haven’t seen since the 80’s. Michel Goulet style there. I am not saying it was the correct thing to do but I definitely understand Helm’s irie. And goals or not I have been enjoying his play. He looks.like the helm of old. Engaged and playing hard.

This team has totally stop forecheching and that should be there strength or at least their priority.

Technically spitting on someone is assault.  Spitting on players going to the dressing room should get you arrested.

@ThatGuy,
Helm spit on him? Man, I missed that. Wow

did…, No spit came from the stands.  I saw the video before it was deleted, it was a short clip and all you saw was what looked like spit hitting Helm on the neck or back of head. Helm glanced at the person but kept walking down the walkway to the room.

They are who we thought they were…

And I am just fine with that, no issue with a top 3 pick, and a fire sale at the deadline.

In the Sportsnet video, at the 1:08 mark, you will see Helm’s reaction.

The now deleted video actually slowed down the spit segment and you could clearly see it.

Thanks Paul. You definitely see the spit coming down towards Helmer. That’s some BS.

I misunderstood stood that guy, I thought Helm did the spitting.

A real team would investigate and ban that fan from their arena for life, the Calgary Organization is on the clock IMO.

Some teams move a portable tunnel into position when an opposing player or teams takes the ice and also heading back to the room, not sure if they do so in Calgary but it certainly did not happen last night.

I would image the league and NHLPA would have something to say about this. This is a player safety issue.

Murray, I agree with you 100%, this team is exactly what was expected. As a fan it’s certainly very frustrating to watch this kind of performance, but these kinds of games and results are expected.
Only hope I have is Wings having a bit more luck in the draft lottery than before.

When I look at the numbers for the past 3 years’ draft lottery, two things stick out.

1. Even though the Wings have the third lowest point total (tied for) in that 3 year span, there are 13 teams that have drafted higher than the Wings highest pick of 6th.

2. Only 2 teams have had a better chance to pick in the top three in that 3 year span.  Buffalo had the best chance and did end up with a number one overall pick, so good for them.  Ottawa had the second best chance but dropped from 2nd pick to 4th and from 1st pick to 4th in the last two lotteries, which would really piss me off.

Hard to argue anyone other than Ottawa and Vancouver having as bad or worse luck than Detroit the past 3 years in the draft lottery, especially with the ridiculous luck some teams have gotten.  Looking at you New Jersey.  angry

Sometimes you drop or fail to climb in the lottery and it costs you a
relatively certain difference maker.

But a lot of years, especially outside the first couple of to few picks it’s
judgment in making the most of the where you pick. Picking 7th didn’t appear to cost Vancouver/

The Wings have ended up in exactly the most-likely draft spot in each year of the lottery except 2017 (when the numbers said 8th but they ended up 9th.)

Not true, they were 4th from the bottom last year and selected 6th

6th is the mostly likely spot for the 4th worst team, staying at exactly 4th would have been a real longshot:

Pretty sure EthrDemon is talking about the best percentage spot to end up in based on the lotto drawing, which is correct.  The Wings ended up in the spot they had the highest percentage chance to end up in the past two years and the third highest spot in 2017.

What I failed to really explain in my initial comment on the Wings lottery luck is that just looking at where they picked based on the percentages they aren’t really getting unlucky.  In fact the only team I feel has really gotten unlucky is Ottawa, having had almost at p combined chance to pick in the top 3 at least one of the last two drafts and dropping to 4th both times.

However, when there are teams jumping to the top three with a much smaller chance (  for example), while the Wings don’t make the jump into the top three even with almost three times as good of a chance the perception of being unlucky is there.  If enough people around you are getting lucky and you’re not, even if you’re not actually getting unlucky it’s going to feel like you are.

Bleah….so can’t use the percentage sign.  To clarify missing parts of my most recent post:

Ottawa had a 69 percent chance to pick in the top three at least one of the last two years.

There were teams that made the jump to the top three with a 20 percent and sometimes lower chance.

The Wings had a 58 percent chance to pick in the top three at least once in the past three years.  So yeah, not especially unlucky when observed by itself.

Yeah, what Valek said.  The Wings have only slightly underperformed in the draft lottery, it only looks bad when you compare them to the teams that got really lucky.
