The two-hour documentary is scheduled to air during the Stanley Cup Final, which will begin in mid-June.

The Wings and Avalanche met five times in seven postseasons from 1996-2002, with the Wings winning in 1997 and 2002, and the Avalanche winning in 1996, 1999 and 2000. Detroit won the Cup three times during that time, and Colorado won twice.

Me too…literally.

I’m good friends with John Wharton’s younger brother, Shawn. He has all kinds of great stories to tell regarding his brother’s run as Wings’ trainer, some of which probably shouldn’t be revealed. I always remember John giving it to the Avs bench. Loved that passion. His quote is great, “I fuc*ing hate them. I’ll always hate them.” You can imagine the kind of bond that forms between head trainers and the players for whom they look after and care for.
