Throwing Up In Your Mouth Can Be Fun

I’m still working on the trip recap. But I’ll warn you, it may not be finished today.  Two days away from the “real job” always, and there is never an exception, means ugliness when you get back.

On to the matter at hand.  Pavel Datsyuk didn’t practice and Helene St. James says it’s a foot.

Asked if Datsyuk will play in Game 3, Mike Babcock said, “I sure hope so. He’s day-to-day.”

Uncle Mike was cranky when asked about some new line combinations at practice.

Babcock said of his adjusted lines: “I obviously made them that way for a reason.”

As much as Datsyuk hasn’t been producing points, he’s still a significant, significant contributor on the ice—the Blackhawks have to heed his every move, and he consistently is a threat with the puck. He’s also a great penalty killer, especially during 5-on-3s.

The Wings don’t want to rule him out today, of course—it makes sense to wait and see how he feels Friday after the morning skate. Given that Detroit has a 2-0 lead, though, there’s room to be cautious and let Datsyuk have another two days to heal.

I was at the game, in case you didn’t know.  And I saw Datsyuk take that shot off his foot.  I said to the teenage girl sitting in front of me that I could see trouble brewing.  “I see trouble brewing,” I said.  She waved her pom pom at me and giggled.  More on that idiot in the recap.  Anyway, I saw it and watched him on the bench and he was in serious pain.  He did skate his regular shifts after that.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
