Yzerman: "To be honest with you, I'm not surprised." The Red Wings had an 18.5 percent chance of winning the first pick. The placeholders had almost a 25 percent chance combined.

Yzerman: "I think we're going to get a great prospect, and hopefully that prospect turns into a player that can move the needle."

Yzerman was picked fourth overall. He said he had no idea what his NHL career was going to be like and "things worked out." Yeah, I'd say so.
