Starting Early: Live Blogging The Game That Should Have Been And Listening To The Emperor

Interesting sidenote to the Game 7 ditty that many of you have stricken from your alcohol-riddled memories: the Wings were the better team. The Wings are always the better team. But by the time G7, R2 rolled around last year…Detroit was rolling. Here’s what we said when we kicked off the last Live Blog of last season...
And here’s something else: Wings win tonite and they become the favorites. I mean, THE favorites. The favorites to beat Vancouver, the favorites to win the whole damn thing. San Jose wins and nobody with a brain cell picks them to go any further than five or six games against the Canucks.
You can’t argue with that. You just can’t. Nothing was exaggerated and nothing was wrong. Had the Wings won that, Vancouver would have been history. And Boston’s not built to deal with the depth of Detroit. Nobody is, really. Except for Columbus…and Washington.
It’s so early. Golly, it’s early. But you have to figure that the Wings feel a little dirty after getting their asses handed to them by the worst team in the league, just after a spanking in DC. You have to think that if any night is ripe for a reckoning, it’s tonite.
So, Live Blog this bitch. Go on now. Live blog it. Before you do, because you dig your Live Blogs and whatever else falls on this site from time to time when I get the energy to write, click here and do what the Emperor tells you to do.

Does anyone else have trouble with NHL channel cutting off the left side and the right side of the picture? Every game is like that. Also the NHL HD channel never works, always blank.
Posted by RWBill from the open bar on The Hasek. on 10/28/11 at 10:13 PM ET
Why is there still a fixation on the magical crease? The blue paint hasn’t been a relevant to the rule for several years. Merf and Mick have seen enough of these, they should know that by now.
I agree, the crease SHOULD matter. But it doesn’t and hasn’t, so no sense discussing it every time.
Posted by Nate A from Detroit-ish on 10/28/11 at 10:14 PM ET
Wow. Every time I see the replay on that I get a little more pissed off.
Posted by WestWing from Portland, Oregon on 10/28/11 at 10:14 PM ET
The NHL Network guys are disgusted with the wave-off, too.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
