Somewhere In The Swamps Of Jersey?  It’s A Live Blog

Me and the Boss would probably have a few philosophical differences if the opportunity presented itself for an in depth confab about social norms, politics and puppies.  But I do dig his music.  And, in keeping with our annual trip to the Garden State?  It’s a Springsteen-influenced LB.

I tried to post a Dater ditty today but the salty Gore had other plans, so I quit.  I’ll keep trying but it’s tough sledding.  Tonite?

Tonite has “trap” written all over it.  Second half of a B/B.  Last place team.  Away.  The Wings penchant to, you know, “play down to the level…”.  A win would be miraculous with those odds stacked against us.

A prediction for player of the game?  Why sure.  A serial killer will prove that he’s no hero, but all the redemption he’s got to offer is under that insane, sociopathic hood of his.  Why Saddam?

Because of this.

Montreal Gazette

Had a chance to watch the Detroit Red Wings live at the Joe this week.  Three quick observations.  1. Todd Bertuzzi is done

Someone read that to Bertuzzi. Read it slow so he understands every word.  And then ball it up and feed it to him with his rat and fetid milk.

It’s a Live Blog, bitches.

Just got back home from one of the most successful hockey weekends I’ve had.

Fri. - Wings win.  Wranglers win.
Sat. - Caught “The Big Chill” late but early into the second period and witnessed history being made.  Wings win.  Wranglers win.

I had to leave early to grab some grub at the casino and along the way to the Wranglers game, I kept going back to the sportsbook to check on the Wings.  At last check before going to the game, I saw that it was 3-nil Wings.  Yep, even with an impotent Devils offense, I was a nervous wreck.  I caught the final score on the scoreboard at the first intermission of the Wranglers game and the Wranglers were up 1-nil after one period of play.

Absolutely superb hockey weekend.  If anything, the Habs-Wings game on Friday should’ve been included in some way with “The Big Chill.”  Uncle Mike’s right.  It has the potential to make an impact on both the Canadian and American channels if the NHL front office wasn’t so short-sighted and myopic.

Datsyuk brings Christmas miracles early with his Dangle Bells.

Chris Osgood played very well.

Bert-Flip-Franzen matched against Kovalchuk all night and they kept play in the Devils’ end most of the time.

Curious, I was listening to the 3rd on the radio last night, the NJD feed (XM usually plays the home broadcast) and they were saying how well NJD played 5-5.

I look at the boxscore, and all 4 DET goals are even strength, and the NJD goal is on the PP?

Must be homerisms, eh?

And ohh the NJD crew were pretty resigned to suckage - - they made mention of the 90 million dollar man too,  They did have a lot of nice things to say about the DET Organization.

You’re being too kind. Chico-Bubba was just terrible. And Doc wasn’t much better.

In Lou We Trust had a pretty good recap post where John Fischer pretty well covered the disparity between 5-on-5 and special teams (short version: The Devs outshot the Wings 34-23, but if you cut out PP shots, it was 22-21 Det at 5-on-5).  It’s a bit of a long rant, but it’s well-written and complimentary, so I liked it.

Who the Hell was that guy with Doc on the Devils broadcast?  He was a bit of a homer, he’s supposed to be after all it’s a Devils broadcast, but he just WOULD NOT STFU !!!  When Doc is allowed to spin an uninterrupted play by play he has the most gifted usage of the English language of any play by play guy in any sport anywhere, but this guy kept interrupting Doc and rambling and going overboard with how much effort the Devils were playing with.  He was plenty gracious enough toward the Wings but rambled non-stop!  Quite annoying, almost unlistenable.

Awww, JJ, now I feel sorry for NJD fans.  One of the commenters has this as his signature line:

“The 2010-11 NJ Devils are like the Titanic: they both looked good until they hit the ice.”

Thats ‘ust sad . . . .

“Chico” Resch was a goaltender for the Islanders and a few other teams in the 80s’.

Haha, i live in ny now, so even with C.I. i’m blacked out of other markets games when NJD, NYR, and NYI are playing, so I hear alot of the Devils crew.  Doc Emerick is one of the best in the game, and Chico is arguably the worst in the game.  It could be a great crew, if Doc had someone like Panger along with him; it’s too bad you can’t must just the color commentary.

Though, that’d be pretty amazing to hear what a Murph-Chico Resch crew would sound like. hmmm

Lions “D” playing impressive.

3-0, down to GB w/ 1-1/2 quarters to go.

I know, I know. They’ll figure out another way to crush our hopes for a win ...

Friday, I came home from work and there was maybe 2, 3 inches of snow on the ground.

Today, I woke up to this:

Datsyuk Warms Up at the Staples Center

I haven’t gotten through some media I took last week while in California, but I did upload some video clips and patched these together for a minute of viewing pleasure.

Now flash forward 6 days to the back handed top corner goal vs. Montreal.  No coincidence!

Thanks Kate and itrusted, I honestly didn’t know the guy who was smothering Doc Emrick.

The Devils = Titanic joke… awesome, I hope I can remember it, what was I gonna say?

stonehands, that’s just awesome.

Maybe it’s me, probably, but growing up north of Lansing and west of Flint it seemed we had snow on the ground continuously from December to March, when it melted and the ground turned mushy, like whack-a-mole, push down in one place and it pops up in the other.

Not to lessen the severity of the weather by any means, but I don’t remember any one making a big deal out of 6 inches of freakin’ snow like they do on TV now.  A guy I work with who grew up in South Carolina keeps saying ” Imagine trying to live in that “.  Well Hell’s Bells, when it’s on the ground 25% of your life you don’t even think much aboot it…...  mebbe the winters weren’t as severe in the 70s 80s and 90s.  Those things tend to go in cycles.

Could be I’m senile, in fact there’s not much doubt about it.  Anyway, don’t hesitate to put up more photos you Yoopers and others who may be heading for a White Christmas.

Holy shit.  Ovie damn near loses it.  Caps down 4-nil to NYR (three goals by NYR in second period alone) and Ovie scraps with Dubinsky.  As the fight ends, Ovie is separated and gestures and yells out something in rage to the Rangers’ bench just before he skates into the penalty box.  Frustration boiling over within the Caps.

And the DuhUcks are playing in a pitifully populated Panda Center.

Datsyuk is so awesome.  The first time I ever saw him was at a practice in Phoenix in 2002. He was stick handling a puck in between a line of aboot 20 pucks passing it back and forth to himself. One of my sons’ noticed him and pointed it out. He is amazing.
