from Dana Gauruder at the Detroit Free Press,
Just how much Fabbri fits into the Wings’ plans remains to be seen. He’ll be a restricted free agent this offseason. Fabbri was originally signed to a three-year, entry-level contract. He has played on one year contracts over the past two years. He inked a one-year, $900K deal in restricted free agency last summer.
Fabbri is hoping for more stability with his next contract.
“I am definitely hoping and excited to get off the back-to-back one-year contracts but that part of the game is for my agent to talk to Yzerman about,” he said. “I’ll leave that up to them and just control what I can control. At this point, I’m staying ready in case we go back and if not, staying ready to start my summer training for next season.”...
“My body feels great,” he said. “It’s been pretty much 2½ years with the surgeries and everything is starting to get back to normal, going through the season with the travel and the games and everything like that. My body stayed in one piece, which was nice.”
In terms of his career, he’d like to stay in one place for awhile with the team that gave him a second chance.
“I’ve stated multiple times I want to be in Detroit for as long as possible,” he said. “I don’t control that but I loved it there from the minute I came. Everything was great for myself, for my girlfriend and the dogs. They loved it there. I’m looking to stay there as long as I can.”
