Season series: Ryan Getzlaf scored twice, including the game-winner with 24 seconds left in the third period, to lift the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings in the second game on the schedule for each team this season. Detroit took a 2-1 lead 1:57 into the third, but Anaheim forward Matt Beleskey tied the game 1:21 later.

Red Wings team scope: Forward Henrik Zetterberg was injured Saturday late in the second period of Detroit's game against the Dallas Stars and played one shift in the middle of the third. He traveled with the Red Wings to Anaheim for the first of a five-game road trip, according to the Detroit Free Press, but did not practice. Forward Daniel Cleary, a healthy scratch the past nine games, took line rushes. "I don't know if we'll make any decisions until tomorrow," general manager Ken Holland said regarding Zetterberg, according to the Free Press. The Red Wings rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period Saturday to tie the game, only to again fall behind by two, again tie the game, and finally win 7-6 in overtime, becoming the first team since 1934 to trail by two in the third period, tie the game, trail by two again, and then win, according to the Elias Sport Bureau. "For the fans it was probably fun to watch," said defenseman Niklas Kronwall, who scored the overtime winner, according to the Red Wings website. "For players and coaches, there wasn't a lot of pretty things out there. … Tonight we got lucky, crawled back into the game and found a way to get two points. That's pretty much all you can say."

Ducks team scope: Coach Bruce Boudreau has split up forwards Corey Perry and Getzlaf the past two games, first Friday against the Calgary Flames, when Anaheim fell behind 3-1, only to score five goals in the third period and win 6-3. The Ducks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 on Saturday with Getzlaf and Perry again on separate lines. With the win, the Ducks improved to 25-0-7 in one-goal games this season. They're the only team in the NHL to earn at least a point in every game they've played this season decided by one goal. "We've been trying to get to the net more aggressively," said Getzlaf, who scored the game-winner against Edmonton. "When you are having trouble scoring goals, that's what you need to do. We got a lucky bounce there at the end."
