3rd period the Ducks scored with under four minute to go and that is how the game ended.

Shots 33 for Anaheim, 16 for Detroit.

Goals and Detroit stats are below.

Larkins goal was very Datsyukian.

Don’t let the shot clock fools you, it was a close game, we just don’t shoot. How many occasions did we have with a player right out in front…and here come that one pass too many. A breakaway ? shot wide, goal post ? no problem.

Helm is funny, when he gave the puck away to Nielsen for a breakaway, had he skate with Nielsen we would have had a 2 on nobody, a lot tougher to stop for a goalie than just one player alone. And then again Helm late in the game had another play ( 2 on 1) where he didnt shoot, lost the puck…another good play for Nothing (except a penalty)

Mantha probably played his best game of the season..and he didnt score. I saw him being decently intense, from start to end. Good for him…finally.

You sense this team still believe they have a chance at making the playoffs…the push they now call it !

Only saw period 1. It didn’t look sustainable, and Mickey said we were lucky. Good that they held it together.

On another note. Here’s a number:14.

That’s Jarnkrök’s goal tally. Why did we trade him?

Unless Helm uses his mighty slapshot to beat a goalie on a breakaway (because we saw that recently hahaha) I’d rather him just skate into the corner and cover the puck to eat time. It’s like he gets the yips when he’s in a scoring position. Poor guy…

If you consider Howard as a dman, I agree.

Great game by Howard. And that’s it.

That was the best outcome there. If Helm intended that, it was brilliant. 2;20 remaining and Ducks get a penalty. The alternative was Helm missing the net and Ducks having over 2 minutes to play 6 on 5 and we know how that usually ends.

The best alternative was to put the puck in the net.

And this is the only thing Helms is good at…draws penalties…

Oh come on! you know we throw out at least one game when analyzing how good a goalie is.

Mantha probably played his best game of the season..

Mantha did seem to be very focused.

That trade really hurts. Still I’m glad for him to be playing well.

And if I am not mistaken, he is making $2 mil per year on a long term deal, that hurts too.

I’m a Wings fan first but I watch a ton of Nashville games too since they are the team I can see in person the easiest (still a 4 hour drive).

It pains me every time Jarnkrok makes a decent play. He’s really the good NHL player the Wings let get away. I know they were in a desperate situation at the time (many injured centers) but he sure would be nice to have around about now. I’m not sure he would have been willing to commit to Detroit long-term or how it would have affected the rest of the roster but he’s a much better producer than the Wings currently have in their bottom 6. He can play both ends of the ice and easily slide up and down the lineup. He’s going to be close to 25 goals this season at $2M!

And Jarnkrok was clearly the best center we had in the system at that time. I even remember when the trade was announced for Legwand, the name of the second prospect was not mentioned. Only hours later it became known that KH traded Jarnkrok and DRW fans went nuts.
