Quick Recap- Wings/Penguins

Wings lose 5-1 to the Penguins. The team should be embarrassed starting with the GM, coach and players.

In times of trouble I seek help and again turn to Ted Kulfan tweets.

(Howard was pulled after giving up 4 goals on 16 shots)

Wonder what is going through Jimmy Howard's mind right now. The team in front of him is awful, but he hasn't been able to rise above it even a bit this season. He's going to be 2-22-2 after today

It's going to be 5-1 here after 2 periods...terrible game for #RedWings thus far

Detroit goal and team stats below.

Detroit fans expected a down year, but not this!

Next game is at home against the Canadiens.

I completely slipped the game (thankfully). I flip on the radio broadcast to hear the game recap. Ken Kal (whom I really like) comes on and says the following:

” Well the Wings wrapping up a good road trip. They didn’t win any games on this road trip…”

shut eye  sick

I swear I’m not making this up.

When is someone gonna tell the King he’s not wearing any clothes !!!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a record like that before.

It’s rough for Jimmy to go out this way, but
at least he isn’t the goalie with a another year
remaining on his contract.

It’s like he fell of a cliff mentally and physically at same time,
on top of the awful lineup in front of him. It will be nice to at least
get rid of some of - though far from all of - the stink of Holland’s “loyalty business”
when this season finally ends. There was a time when Howard may have had some
value if we’d retained salary. But the former GM wouldn’t even ask his veteran players if it was ok to move them. Must have been nice for him to escape his own bad contracts and start over in Edmonton.

(Yes, today is a slight return of “sour about Holland” posts, given the trade deadline is approaching and about all we had to look forward to was trying to pick up some extra picks and hope for lottery luck. But we have almost no one of value to trade because someone sat on his hands until it was too late and his re-signings had zero value.)

I watched the game until it was 1-3, then watched something else. The first Pittsburgh goal looked like it was kicked in, but there was no way it would be overturned.  shock After all it’s Pittsburgh. angry  After that goal, the Red Wings caved, not that the final outcome was in doubt. shut eye

Howard just doesn’t care anymore. It is sad for him.
