Quick Recap Of Today’s Detroit Red Wings/Washington Capitals Game

Well the first two periods went well with the Wings up 4-1 going into the third period.

I did not read the comments in the live blog today but imagine a few of you mentioned or thought oh no, the dreaded three goal lead.

The third period was all Washington. 4-2, 4-3, tie game late in the 3rd period with their goalie pulled and the Wings one man down due to a penalty.

OT they went...

Tatar wins it!  Just imagine if the Wings were actually in a playoff race, the nail biting, the sweaty palms, etc....

Obviously great second period, but it feels our opponents can even not show up for 40 minutes and still come back.
Why, just why you start OT with the worst OT combo in NHL after they lost you last game. Obviously they both go behind the net and there is 2 on 1 and Howard makes a great save. These type of decisions are just puzzling to say the least. Do these Swedish guys have THAT type of influence on Blash decisions?
Second period probably the best of the season, but Caps looked like they were not even there.
Larkin and Daley were great.

i don’t know if i should be happy about this. Blew a lead again, E and Daley constantly on the ice in the dying minutes, no rest allowed by good ol Blashill.  Larkin who still has Something to learn how to play the PK, gave Backstrom too much room on the tieing goal, but Howard should have had this one.

In OT we got Lucky. It was funny at times looking at our player specially in OT, is if they didnt believe they had a chance to win this one.

I guess Daley is out for a while, he took a bomb right to his hand.

So now i guess Tatar’s value has increased…good for a nice return at TDL.

Regarding Daley Pierre, Z said he will be sore but fine, Blashill said the same thing, ice bag on left hand.

——-it’s because there were like 3-4 icings in a row. Even dead tired they did better than DK who took a penalty right after E and Daley went for a change.

Glenny with 8 goals on the year. More than Z and tied with Larkin.

Yeah..they were great tonight…another blown lead just like in NY. I saw one iceing not more…that’s a lame excuse, iceing or not Blashill would not have changed them, they were tire but that’s all right for our beloved coach.

I was truly flabbergasted to learn Blash-hat sat Bert.  This guy coaches like a kindergarten teacher.

I cannot wait for him to be gone.

If the shift chart is read correctly, I am seeing 1:39 for Daley and Ericsson on this particular shift. Glenny had it even worse. If that long of a shift isnt a problem, then I don’t know why more players dont have minute and a half shifts, even when pinned down in the d-zone like that.

ok..maybe this time. But between you and mind, sometimes Blashill will leave E, Daley on the ice like for ever. Against the Isles DK and Jensen were on the ice basically the last 5 minutes.

I’m not a big fan of Blashill and want he gone as well but I had zero problem with Blashill sitting Bertuzzi. Hopefully it sends a clear message that he cannot be committing stupid retaliation penalties when the team has a game under control.

Blashill does a lot wrong. I just don’t see this as wrong. Many coaches would have done the exact same thing.

I expect Bert already got the memo for letting his teammates down, appeared to me like the coach injecting himself where the players would ,or should have had it handled.

Agreed, and I think it’s more than that too. After his white hot start Tiny Bert has really faded. I think he’s struggling and giving him a game to watch and clear his head could be a good thing.
