Next HOF Candidates?

Joe Nieuwendyk, with three Stanley Cups on three different teams and a sparkling international resume for Canada, should be a lock.Ok, I don't argue he's a likely and deserving selection. I could live with Nieuwendyk in the Hall. But the mild recommendation for Nick Lidstrom has me a little baffled.
Nicklas Lidstrom will be a candidate for steady, seamless service.Sounds like a citation for a military Good Conduct Award. Umm, how about 4 (can you argue with 5?) Norris Trophies, 3 Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe and a captaincy? If Nieuwendyk "should be a lock", the frigging Hall should be named after Lidstrom. Is my bias showing again? Sorry about that.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
