More Grades

from Ansar Khan of Mlive,

Here are the final grades, based on performance vs. expectations.

Justin Abdelkader

GP: 75, G: 13, A: 22, PT: 35

Contract: Five years remaining at a $4.25 million cap hit.

He improved from a year ago but didn’t reach the level from the previous two seasons due to a lack of consistency. The club was hoping for 20 goals. He led the team in hits, though a fractured cheek bone that forced him to wear a face shield earlier in the season might have limited some of his abrasiveness and physicality.

Grade: C+

Five years remaining at a $4.25 million cap hit.

Embrace it.  Love it. Live it.

Let the rebuild begin.

He’ll never reach that level because Datsyuk won’t be bouncing pucks off of him any more, and Holland was stupid to think his production during that time was at all genuine. What the club was hoping for will never happen again.

C+ isn’t a bad grade though, considering he met my already low expectations of him.

If you took all the grades and moved them down one or in some cases two spots you would get a better idea of where the team is right now. To me, all the beat writers grades are inflated.

I agree, but the beat writers face the players every day, so they are stuck in the old catch 22. smile
