Mirtle On The West

What does that mean? For one thing, if you want the high-flying, high-scoring NHL where anything can happen and anyone will win, tune into the East where even the top teams have seen 60+ goals end up in their net. That's where the playoff-race drama will come — and we're seeing evidence of it already with unlikely teams like Washington and Pittsburgh in postseason positions. The West? It's been a low-scoring, predictable, and almost humdrum season so far. Teams that were high-flying in the past — namely Vancouver, Colorado and Edmonton — have packed up the offence and are struggling to adjust.I can't believe I'm doing this but...man, what a dork...if the playoffs started today (I really can't help but laugh at myself for typing that on Nov. 14th...if I was a chick I'd insert "LOL" in there)...I'm sorry, I can't do it. Look, my point is that the top eight teams right now are: Anaheim, Detroit, Minnesota, San Jose, Dallas, Bubba, Edmonton and Vancouver. There will be some shifting (Calgary's going to get in. Either Vancouver or Edmonton won't), but that's it folks. Those are your playoff teams and it's not even Thanksgiving. Oh, and Pierre LaCroissant and whoever his puppet GM is can wheel and deal all they want. Bring in Floppa. Whatever. No playoffs for you fat boy.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
