Mike Babcock On Filip Hronek

Mike Babcock in a very rough Google tranlastion from iSport.cz regarding Filip Hronek.

You watched the Czech Republic and France, and Pastrňák also took part in it and Krejčí , who withdrew you from Boston.

"Good players, but they are already assigned. But I noticed one very good beak. It's Detroit. Hronek ? He played on the farm, but I think he can play in the NHL. When you look around and watch these games, some good tips will get you out of it. And I always liked young players. Raise them, perfect them, build on them. It always paid off. That's what I'm trying to do. Staying in the picture and discovering. "

Ahh, I remember the good ole’ days when the Red Wings had an actual, capable NHL coach.

No sir, it was time for a change.

BTW, I don’t think the wings lack a capable coach, I think Blashil is a capable coach, he was a rookie, who is now getting his tenure.  I’ve always said, he’ll be a good coach, I’m just not sure it is with the wings.  I’m not sure any coach would’ve been able to get more than 5-6 more wins out of this roster, and by doing so, it would be a more muck it up, clog lanes, block shots, safe game, the exact opposite of what we want our prospects doing.

Oh good, a patented Murray Chadwick straw man response.

The problem (and it will be a long lasting problem), there is no room for prospects to move up to the Big Club.  Untradeable contracts with some useless players attached.

Instead of 1 (Ras?) there might be a possibility of 2 maybe 3, this is a rebuild right??  What a mess!

By the time KH’s contract is up the roster will be mostly over paid players requiring wheel chairs.  How will Chris I evaluate KH (again) with very little NHL Wings changes.

The big Cap hits have to be moved/let go, sad as it might feel

Sorry, but that is quite literally bullshit.

By the end of Ken Holland’s contract (2 more seasons) the following players will be off the books, or if re-signed at all, to MUCH lesser deals:

Howard => The only player with a real shot to get re-signed
Kronwall
Ericsson
Daley
The ghost of Franzen

Nyquist will likely have been traded as well

That season will also see the following players in a prime position to be bought out or traded at the deadline:

Helm
Glendening

All those championship runs-or at the very least deep-playoff runs - after 2029 were special indeed.

So special, in fact, it’s almost like it was a dream

Will see if your prediction is BS.  Howard, LMAO.  Kronwall will leave when HE wants to, all Vets decide their future not KH.

Helm buyout, I doubt it LGD $$ don’t matter.

Will see, won’t we!!!

As if people don’t rip Holland enough, but I should remind you all the Wings are still incurring a cap charge for the Stephen Weiss buyout. And, it goes up next season, to “$2.56 million in 2017-18 and $1.67 million for each of the three seasons after that”

As bad as the signing was, the buyout was actually worse. Huh? Let’s dig further:

“General manager Ken Holland said concerns about cap space next summer, more than anything prompted the move… At the end of the day, because of 2016 and the people we got coming up (Justin Abdelkader, Darren Helm, Danny DeKeyser, Riley Sheahan, Peter Mrazek will need new contracts), people we want to keep, a year from now this (buyout) was going to be inevitable.”

Add to this the fact they signed Nielsen, essentially to replace Weiss, and will be paying him until 2022, in addition to the Weiss buyout charge.

The Weiss deal would have just expired, at the end of this year.
