LB: The 19 Are Gonna Sing And Dance In Celebration, Herm Is In The Promised Land

Herm’s day of celebration is here, and Guilherme is touring the promised land.  19 imaginary friends are gathering in Hockeytown.

19 imaginary friends raised $19 million dollars for the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.  That number may not be exact, I’m not a pharmacist.  Herm2Hockeytown is the reason Al Gore invented the internet.  And it is happening.  Can you dig it?

Herm has never seen a live hockey game.  He has never even met another Red Wings fan.  Until today.

19 have united for one purpose:  Bring Herm2Hockeytown and celebrate being the greatest fans of the greatest organ-I-zation in sports, the Detroit Red Wings.

Herm2Hockeytown has already reached epic proportions.  And the celebration has only just begun.

The Red Wings have rolled out the red carpet to ensure Herm gets the ultimate Red Wings experience.

And the hospitality doesn’t end there.  Osrt has invited 19 visitors to stay over, including a Brazilian hockey fan smuggled across two borders in a crate of soccer balls.  Osrt is a gracious host.  He and The Triple Deke crew are ensuring Herm is catered to.  I am told there has been a lot of olive oil and applesauce involved.

On March 26, 1997, Herm watched his first Red Wings game on TV.  That game is in the annals of all-time great NHL games and etched upon Herm’s mind forever as the day he became a Red Wings fan.

Today, on March 26, 2010, Herm will watch his first live Red Wings game.  Today is the day Herm gets to see Darren Helm and his Red Wings play the Wild.  And WIN.  The day Guilherme has a religious experience at Joe Louis Arena.

I will not yet divulge any information of the magical mystery tour known as Herm2Hockeytown.  The details will leak out as the legend is written.

“A2Y is what other blog sites aspire to be when they fail to grow up: intelligent immaturity for the juvenile genius set”
—Captain Dennis Polonich, of the 19

This is the final quote on the sidebar.  This is the essence of the 19 at A2Y.

We are a group of friends who revel in juvenile deliciousness and have the common bond of excellent taste in hockey teams.  Red Wings fans, including the 19, are special.  No other group of imaginary strangers could raise this much money for Michigan Children and one Brazilian juvenile adult.

All the people who generously donated their hard-earned money to the charity fundraiser, Thank You.  It is because of amazing people like you all this is possible.

Jen MacRostie is A2Y’s resident superhero, Jennyquarx.  Along with a whole team of others , Jenny has been working hard organizing H2H making it an event to remember.  Thanks, as well, to all the various Red Wings blogs who have donated money and time to make this H2H possible.  Your fundraising and efforts has put H2H over the top.

A special thanks to the Detroit Red Wings, a team who has proven they love their fans as much as their fans love them.

This a great cause and a great team effort.  Thanks to all.

While the 19 converge on Joe Louis Arena, 19 others are joining us elsewhere.  Not only in thoughts, but in comments below.  The Hasek Club Car is being left in good hands.  Kate from Pa is the bartender tonight.  She is ensuring that all those who could not attend H2H in person, will never have an empty glass.  And trolls beware, she is an expert with a knife.

To all the 19 not here at JLA, you are with us in spirit.  From the Chief at sea, JJ with Emma and Bella with William Alexdander, to the 19 on their computers around the world… Cheers.

Thanks to a little help from 19 friends, Herm2Hockeytown is going to be legendary.

Let’s Go Red Wings!!!!!

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
