Ken Holland On Babcock/Franzen

from Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press,

Asked if a player ever came to him and accused Babcock of abusive behavior, former Wings general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press, “no. The answer is no.”...

Holland told the Free Press he talked to Chelios on Monday afternoon, and that Chelios admitted the incident he describes with Holland did not happen after the Nashville game. Chelios said he was in the locker room when Holland told players that if they had a problem with Babcock, they were welcome to address it with Holland in his office....

In a text message to the Free Press, Chelios said he made his comments about Babcock and wanted to leave it at that. Babcock did not return a message requesting comment.

more, basically a recap of what was said in the Swedesh newspaper and the audio from Chelios this morning...

He had the part of the story about KH coming into the locker room to address the team wrong, he stands by the rest of the story

Babcock is pretty much radioactive at this point.

And…....  I wonder if Babcock’s style had anything to do with Blash going to GR? That situation looks alot different today than it did at the time….....

KH knew that this would be a death sentence as the GM of the Oilers.

It’s already impossible to get a top UFA to come to Edmonton because of climate, tax disadvantages, quality of life, etc., etc.—-but to throw in he threatened trading veteran players for speaking out against a coach that would have the first step of the death spiral.

Maybe the message wasn’t spoken after the game, but I am sure all the players were made aware of the fact they are “cattle and the owners own the ranch.”

Well…..I’m no longer a fan of Kenny Holland.
