Jackson Browne Is Banned Forever

Stupid move on my part yesterday.  I introduced one JB, then concluded with another JB and in the process pretty much guaranteed a shutout at the hands of some BJs.

Yesterday reminded us that (a) the Wings are not ripe with talent so grit is kinda required these days, and (b) we are in for a long stress-filled journey the next two months if Detroit can't beat Columbus in Columbus.  Because if the Wings can't win there, they're not going to win in Anaheim, Chicago, San Jose or practically any other town. There's also this (c): the Wings powerplay is disgusting.  Not just on the road. Overall. It's obscenely inept.

But of course, since they're at home, playing the same team that whipped them yesterday, with almost the identical lineup Detroit iced in shitbag Columbus 24 hours ago...they'll go like 4 for 7 with the man up and win 8-1.  Because Howard means that much, right?

Wrong, bitch. Wrong.  Uncle Mike?

If the powerplay isn't working, that's on you.  Not Tom Renney or any assistant before him we saw fit to lay waste to.  No.  You might have delegated a few things but when it sucks it's on you.  And if a team can't win on the road, in Columbus? That's on you, too.  And if a team loses a season series to...Columbus?

That's you too, big boy.

But we still dig you, Mike. We do.  It's just getting harder to type it.

It's a Live Blog, bitches. No songs. No gimmicks. No predictions. Just a steamroller full of tar, warm beer, some out of date cheddar and an ass-ton of stress.

I’m going to opt for scotch, scotch, and more scotch

Posted by Valek on 03/10/13 at 07:53 PM ET

Never was a fan of scotch until my new Chief started calling all of us Seniors down to his office on Fridays for a “mentoring session”.

Ring Ring

“Thomas come see me….bring a glass”

I live for those words on Fridays…

Calvert 18 year is his scotch of choice but he’s retiring and the guys are gettnig him a bottle of something or other that costs like $400.

Jimmah’s jock strap on the scoreboard.
Z has been MIA too much lately for a captain.

1out of 4 points no good against the crappiest team with its top 4 players injured.
Make way for the long and winding road.

In addition to the fact that the Wings cannot even beat CBJ at home;

14 of the final 22 games are on the road.

DET are 3-5-2 on the road.

I didn’t listen to the game yesterday.  After reading your comments just now, I’m not sorry.  This past weekend felt like a real turning point for the Wings - in the wrong direction.  Yes, seems like we are doomed, as Okie said above, if no changes are going to be made.  I always try to be hopeful but geebuz.

One question:  Uncle Mike sat Lashoff for White?  WTF?

Along with being too predictable no one on the power play even attempts to penetrate the slot unless there is a huge gap in the defense. We almost willingly play on the outside, our primary strategy being to shoot the puck from the blue line and hope for a lucky rebound or tip in from our less than stellar new net front guys. It’s obvious that we need to set up our wingers lower in the zone (actually pass i to them sometimes) and give our highly talented centers more room to work and be creative by spreading the d. To give an example of the utter lack of freedom in our power play: I’d say it’s about 80% of the time that when Datsyuk gets a pass along the boards from a d man he passes it back to the same d man. That doesn’t happen unless he’s been told to make the safe, predictable, not-penetrating-the-slot-and-looking-for-the-amazing-passes-that-your-one-of-the-best-players-in-the-world-at-making play. Frustrating.
