No Datyuk- understandable. No Alfredsson- welcome back Bert.
Detroit is the only team playing tonight involved in the wild card race in the East and two points tonight would mean this...
Detroit would have 86 points with 76 games played.
It would put 3 point cushion between themselves and Columbus, with the BJs playing one less game.
Toronto would be 4 points behind while playing one more game than Detroit and Washington would be 5 points behind with both teams having played the same number of games.
Two points, any way they can get them, gives the Wings some breathing room.
All looks good above, but a win is the great unknown.
Here we go again, shift by shift, play a full game and get the puck out of the defensive zone as quickly as possible.
Forecheck hard, go to the net and get the 2 points. Rest, get ready to host Buffalo on Friday.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
