Ground rules. Obviously…we need some. Or at least we need a reminder of them. Let me quote from my soon-to-be-released manifesto, “The Difference Between The Diggers and the Wing Bloggers”.
“Red Wing beat writers must avoid any attempt at humor. It doesn’t suit them and it embarrasses us all. If the humor is unintentional and reflects their role as propaganda artists for the organ-I-zation, that’s fine. But an outright attempt to be funny? Absolutely prohibited.”
Someone didn’t get the advanced copy.

An Associated Press story out of Stockholm last week detailed a study by the Swedish Red Cross showing that nine of 10 Swedes hug somebody at least once a week, with 59% hugging a friend or acquaintance and 25% hugging a work colleague of the same sex. The Wings’ corps of Swedes, however, denied being big-time embracers.
“In here, not a lot of hugging, but a lot of harmony, a lot of loving,” Niklas Kronwall said. Asked if he would hug somebody regularly, Kronwall replied: “Probably somebody who needs a hug. ... Probably Malts right now. Sometimes when he gets in here in the morning he’s a little short, a little bitter. So sometimes I do think he needs a hug.”
Johan Franzen said: “I’m the 10th guy.”
Nicklas Lidstrom had heard about the study, and suddenly something clicked about Tomas Holmstrom. “I know Homer’s been trying to hug me for quite some time,” Lidstrom said, “and I didn’t know why, but finally I figured it out.”
Henrik Zetterberg allowed, “Well, we are a very friendly people.” But he said he is a non-hugger, something to which non-Swede Chris Osgood can attest. “The Swedes never hug me,” he said. “I get none. Zero. I feel like I should get more. I’m getting lonely. They should hug more.”
Don’t bother clicking the link. I cut/pasted the whole frigging thing. Funny, yes, funny stuff.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: firstname.lastname@example.org
