Measure it however you want. Tim Thomas has a Cup but, at 37, it was most likely his last. Fleury has a Cup, too. But pull a Pens fan aside and ask them their most private scary thought and they might tell you it’s the French kid in the postseason. And that is that. There are no others worthy of comparison because Jim’s got them beat and beaten badly. You want traditional stats? Deal. Among goalies with 17 or more starts he’s #1 in GAA and 7th in save percentage. He’ll never be an All Star as long as the little shrew is commissioner, but those numbers are kinda good.
Kevin Allen’s smart and, according to him, the number one reason the Wings are dangerous Cup contenders?
1. Goalie Jimmy Howard has taken a major step in his development. He has been a model of consistency, and he’s at or the near the top of the leaderboard in every statistical category.
That’s right you little toad, Gary. You ass. The league’s 19th best goaltender, according to you and your crack staff, is at or top of the leaderboard in…every statistical category. But you know what?
They don’t mean jack squat. The All Star snub, as pathetic as it is, doesn’t mean a damn thing.
Only one stat and one thing means anything and that’s wins. And winning? Well, that’s James F. Howard’s business and business is pretty damn good.
He and Fleury lead the league with 14, but rumor has it Fleury actually gets to rest every once in a while. I can’t confirm that but I do know JFH doesn’t get a frigging wink of it. Not a bit and that’s a problem. We know it and so does our Uncle Mike.
But not yet. Not today. Jim’s in again and we’re looking 7 in a row right in the face.
It’s a Live Blog, bitches and James F. Howard’s your huckleberry until he says otherwise.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
