Hey Wake Up

I know the 19 have better things to do during the off-season, but if you can put down your beverage for a minute, I have one question for you.

What UFA do want want to see in the winged-wheel next season?

No trade involved, just strictly one signing or do you feel the Wings should stay the course and let it play out during training camp.

But if you do think they should make a trade, go ahead and make the offer.

Have to say no to old players that cannot keep up. Over 35 is not the way to go. D is what we have to acquire. Period.

Looking at who is available, I’m not impressed.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

No use crying over spilt milk, but Suter was the guy. Missing out on that signing… just develop and go with what we’ve got unless we can trade some of the asset stockpile for a game-changer / budding future HOFer.

Not ENTIRELY true I guess.  IMHO Bouwmeester was there too trade-wise, and I still believe the Wings blew it there as well.  JBo fits the bill for what we still need (reliable, vet minute-eater on the top pairing).  And Bouwmeester worked out wonderfully for STL.

Suter and Bouwmeester are the two that still make me shake my head.  I know the Wings couldn’t do much about Suter: he now has to live with the ramifications of letting his wife choose for him basically, and truthfully I give him another year or so before he gets frustrated and wants out of there.

But since those two?  There’s nothing out there, and it doesn’t look like there will be any time soon.  2nd pairing guys make up to the top end of the defensive UFA pool now, and the top pairing ones that don’t go to become a FA are locked in via NTC/NMC’s and trades are a difficult thing.

I suppose you are correct about Bouwmeester. Though I wasn’t really rating him at the time, but with my hind-sight-glasses on, yeah, he’s a guy we missed out on; he has the qualities we could really use in the line-up.
