So while unlikely, he too may be competing for Kronner’s spot. This will be pretty interesting to watch.

Great, so he’s going to be one of about fourteen D fighting for six spots a night in GR?

Not sure how that’s a positive.

Just bc teenager thinks he should stay doesn’t mean teenager stays.

It’s not entirely up to him, tho… I mean, he can make a great case on the ice as to why the org should keep him in NA, but the final decision is up to Stevie, ultimately. I bet if it’s his choice btw DEL or juniors, he’ll be back in Mannheim in a heartbeat.

Of course the brass will decide where he fits best.

But my impression has been that if anything Seider would be the one who would want to stay in Germany one more season to continue to mature against men in a bigger role than most of last season. For such a young guy that wouldn’t have been surprising.

If he is driven this early to focus on a lineup spot sooner than later and his physical and mental maturity allow Stevie et al to have him growing alongside other top prospects in GR, that’s a great sign. Not every high draft pick from abroad wants or is ready to do that in his draft year.

If so, Grand Rapids is going to have an interesting group of talented players pushing for playing time, with McIsaac likely to join them next season. Not bad to have a couple of big veterans in Lashoff and McIlrath to lean on his first year in a physical league on smaller ice.
