GDT - WC Quarterfinals, Game 1: Red Wings (5) at Predators (4)  (8:00)

DET (5) begin their 21st consecutive playoff appearance, in quest for their 12th Stanley Cup, on the road at NSH (4).  In case you didn’t know, DET suck on the road (17-21-3 - 10th worst road record in the league). The Predators 26-10-5 mark at home was good for 6th best in the league.  The Wings 1.44 5-5 F/A leads the league at even-strength play.  For DET, special teams are their weakness, their PP is inept (16.1% - 22nd), and the PK is middling (81.8% - 18).  NSH have the leagues best PP (21.6%) and 10th ranked PK (83.6%).

But those are regular season stats, and they mean next to nothing - - right?  According to the diggers, there is a slight chance Helm will skate tonight.  The one positive note about tonight’s CNBC broadcast, the echo of Ken Daniels won’t be ringing in my ear:  “. . . the puck rolls of Franzen’s stick.”

Steal just one of these games in NSH, and anything can happen.  LGRW

Game 1 would be a great time to walk out of the arena with a win and NAS to be already in trouble.

Otherwise, expect the worst guys…

Either they win Game 1, or the series will be over very quickly in NAS’s favor.

Then again Garth, that might take actual mental faculties to figure out what I meant, so I suppose you can be excused for your lack of understanding…

You really think the Wings need a sweep to win this series?

Because a win is a win, in game 1, 2, 3, 4 or whatever…  The series doesnt end until a team gets 4 wins

I think the Wings are experienced enough to know that, after the last “few” playoff runs

I believe you will see that or other variations without too much delay if no offense or forechecking appears.  You also have to consider the game situations, God forbid we should actually be ahead, and what combinations are best defensively too.

My father passed on last week, and when I was driving from Chicago to Ann Arbor to see him on his way out, this song came on the radio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-nsLFSqu2c Can’t. stop listening to it now. So I figured I could correlate it into other things:

I knew Bubba had to happen,
we felt the tables turrrrrrnin,
Lids got me through my darkest hour,

I heard the thunder clappin,
felt Bubba burrrrrrnin,
Magically delicious poured on them like a sweet sun shower.

So if you’re tired of the same old MSM story,
Click Kuklas pages,
We are here and we are ready,
to roll with Bubbas deadline changes.

Keep on rollin.

I may or may not have smoked to much herb this morning. ;P LGRW

Man, I’d love to have some of what you’re smokin’. Based on what I’ve seen over the last six weeks, the Wings give up 2 goals in the first (one shorthanded), another in the second. They finally show up to play in the third and score two.

And Z will say something like this after the loss: “We believe we have enough intensity in here, we want to win games,” Henrik Zetterberg said. “We don’t want to go out there and lose. I think we’re trying, sometimes you try a little too hard and it ends up being in your net instead.”

I hope I’m wrong.

Upon arriving in Nashville, he allegedly broke into a local business called The Slaughterhouse, where he stole a Taser, revolver and shotgun. He then proceeded to steal a T-shirt from the Slaughterhouse before burning the business to the ground.

Todd then moved on to a local bar, where he held four patrons at gunpoint. He robbed all four individuals but not before using the Taser on one and pistol-whipping another.

Just five minutes later, Todd moved onto his next alleged felony, carjacking a taxi driver at gunpoint. After leaving the cab, he used the credit cards he had stolen from the bar patrons to buy food.

“He was able to find the Walmart on Nolensville. He goes there and purchased $199 worth of items,” Sgt. Blackburn said.

And that was only the beginning.

You understand very little, Garth.

Make no mistake, DET has to show up tonight and show up strong and make a statement or the series is over in 5 (because even then NAS isn’t capable of the sweep).  Because this team’s psyche is so fragile this season.  This is not the Red Wings team of past years.  The iron will and burning hatred of losing is not there this time…
