GDT - Game #41:  Red Wings at ‘Hawks (7:30)

Game 41 tonight at Chicago marks the midway point of the season, and suddenly both the ‘Hawks (24-13-4) and Wings (25-14-1) are looking up in the standings to see STL (24-12-5) atop the Central Division.  Missed last nights 4-3 loss at TOR as I was watching Drew Brees dismantle the Lion’s secondary.  Nice to see the Wings hold true to form, as they have now alternated wins and losses in Jimmy Howard’s last nine road games, so you have to think they win tonight, right?  Not so fast, Babcock said Conklin is in net tonight.

The ‘Hawks are 5-5 in their last 10, have lost three straight, and are looking to avoid their first four game losing streak in three years.  Just looking at the numbers, CHI wins with offense (3.12 G/G (6)).  The ‘Hawk defense is porous (2.85 GA/G (20)), they are even at 5-5 F/A, their PP (17.8 (15)) is anemic and their PK (78.5 (26)) is inept.  The ‘Hawks have surrendered 13 goals in the last three games after yielding only six in the four contests before their losing streak.

CHI have won five of their last six games against the Red Wings, while scoring at least three goals in every game during the stretch. Time for that crap to stop.  LGRW

Zero expectations for this game.  Not saying they can’t win it, but on the other hand I can’t come up with a single, sound reason to expect a win.

Not so fast, Babcock said Conklin is in net tonight.

That says it all.

Of course, there is that law of averages crap that I will have to cling to.

Thanks OAkie.

This is why WestWing, to quote calquake: “Ladies and Gentlemen, your 2011/2012 schizo Detroit Red Wings.”

They played like dogshit last night, so with the back up who hasn’t won in three months in tonight, as well as it being the second half of a back-to-back against a rested team, we’ll win 6-0.

LET’S GO RED WINGS (exclamation point)
