GDT - WCQF Game 4: Red Wings (1-2) host Ducks (2-1) 8:00

1-3, 5-4, 0-4.

Granted, three games isn't the biggest sample.  5 goals = win, 1 goal and 0 goals = loss. If 5 is the outlier, DET are in really deep trouble. A 2.00 G/G average won't win many contests.  DET finished the season averaging only 2.54 G/G (20) - - scoring woes have plagued DET all year, that is nothing too shocking.

It was DET's defense that carried the Wings this season, 2.29 GA/G (5).  The Wings defense is being shredded right now to the tune of 3.67 GA/G.  It seems that ANA own the damn puck in the DET end.

I think it was Mandingo that said something like, if DET are to win, they'll have to play a perfect game - - so far, they have been anything but that.  Game 3 was a shit sandwich for damn near everyone.

Hard times, bitches.  LGRW

We played a fun drinking game Saturday night. Every time the Wings forced Hiller to make a difficult save, everyone drank.

At the end of the game, we were all anxiously awaiting our first opportunity.

I do not remember any of this.

add a fortuitous free agent signing here and there in the off season,

The best free agent forward available may be Damien Brunner.

tonight’s drinking game should be every time Sammy fires one into the glass.

and you can’t pee until he poops in the box.

I wanna know why Tootoo hasn’t been playing. Wonder if he’s in Uncle Mike’s dog house with White and Cola. I don’t get it ‘cuz it always looked to me like he was working hard, skating well, and giving his line some good chances.

Anyway, this is obviously the game in which our team will make a statement, one way or the other.

I just hope they want to win as much as we want them to.

LET’S GO RED WINGS!!!!!

and MsRedWinger…from where I’m sitting Toots also has some puck-handling skills.  seems to me he’d be a good fit as a puck-retriever and net-front annoyance on the Magic/Hank line.  oh well.

It would make too much sense.  So you go the opposite direction of that and go all Hallmark that it works.

So am I the only one not too unhappy that abdelkader is sitting? I’ve been silent on the matter cause I didn’t want to ruffle any feathers. But 5 or 6 games of sustained success on dats and Z’s line does not the second coming of him make. Still don’t think he belongs there, he doesn’t have the skill level to play with two of the best playmakers(passers) in the league. I get that Babbles wants some grit on that line and I agree with the sentiment but abdelkader is not a top line power forward.

That didn’t stop some people a week or two ago from INSISTING Michael Ryder was the answer to all the Wings’ scoring woes.

Truthfully, it’s a poor crop as it stands.  We don’t want anyone from it.  Let another team make those mistakes.
