keeping it simple ...

If #RedWings and Dallas both win tonight, Detroit is in playoffs.

... or better put ...

The Free Press’s Helene St. James reports -

“The Wings can extend their 21-season playoff streak if they win tonight and if Dallas beats Columbus. The Wings also can clinch if they get one more point than Columbus.”

They did.  I beleve anyone can get the #1 pick but teams can only move down by one now.  So anyone can have their ball picked, but the worst the last place team can pick is #2.

The most any team can move down is one spot, so if the lotto ball for team #13 or #14 comes up first, the entire lottery is over.

I like the “any non playoff team” can win the lottery, but the only drop one spot thing is stupid.

Uncle Mike:

“Last night you were playing the Stanley Cup champions (3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings) and tonight you’re playing a team that’s out of the playoffs,’’ Babcock said. “No disrespect to them, but that sometimes affects your mindset and we can’t let that happen. Nashville has played us hard each and every night I’ve been here and has beaten us a bunch so we have to be prepared and start on time.’‘

yup

Earning just that lonely point isn’t good enough, Helene.  Outright win tonight like last night.  It’s time to be greedy about points.
