Thanks, Okie!

Hoping for another brilliant win tonight!

I was dreading the insertion of Bert into the lineup, simply because the team seems to have some great chemistry going with the current lines.  But if Mule can’t go, I guess that might be a place to plug Bert in.

I am beyond impressed with DaKaiser and Nike.  Wow.  Amazing job by NHL rookies.

Thanks for all your hard work this season, Okie. My heart is really pulling for this team to make the playoffs. But my head thinks a draft lottery pick is better for this team in the long run than another first round exit.

So morning comes up and slaps another warm pile of steaming angst on my plate to replace the giddy euphoria of a well earned win last night.  It’s fun being a fan.

StL could end up anywhere from from 4th to 8th place.

Great great opportunity here, at home and against the team that eliminated us from the playoffs last year.  A win coupled with only 1 point or less by Columbus and we’re in.  Dallas must win two games so they will be trying to bang Columbus whore-style tonight.

And another look at the schedule leading into The Night of The Living Dead.

Just to irritate everyone, this is the entire conference.  About a month ago the POS projected Chicago on track to finish with the equivalent of a 133 point season.  They still are.

StL can win two and steal Home Ice from LAK or SJS, who play head to head on NOLTD.

I’m not sure what exactly constitutes “draft lottery pick”, but should they miss the playoffs the odds of Detroit pulling an impact player, i.e. pick #1, 2, or 3, are extremely remote.

Detroit could finish 7th or 8th, and have shown to be a reasonable match up against either Chicago or Anaheim.  One should not assume a first round exit.

And even if they do, getting bounced in the first round would mean a pick in the same vicinity as they would likely have if they finished in 9th place.  Sure, if they finish in 9th they could get the first pick, but if they don’t they’re probably still going to be in the middle of the round.

I know everyone likes to bang on CBS, but I’m more than that still hoping for epic MIN collapse that leaves them out of the playoffs and DET still in.  I’d love to hear Parise and Suter answer questions about why they missed the playoffs.  I’m all for anything that brings misery to MIN, Suter, and Parise.

RWBill, that chart makes it look like ANA has been very average and beatable as of late.  Whoever gets the #7 might be looking forward to that matchup.  The field has slowly caught back up to them.

Hey remember when EDM still had playoff hopes?  Seems like eons ago now, and the chart shows why…

Did they change the lottery format post-lockout?  I thought you could only move up 5 places max?

Either way, a 9th place finish is going to have lottery odds that simply aren’t worth it.

They did.  I beleve anyone can get the #1 pick but teams can only move down by one now.  So anyone can have their ball picked, but the worst the last place team can pick is #2.

Agreed.

I don’t know how deep the draft is this year, but I’m sure there aren’t going to be any Seth Jones or Aleksander Barkov-type players in the middle of the round.

Sometime before I started capturing data, game 20, ANA was on a Chicago like streak.  They’ve been pretty average for some time.  Certainly Detroit would not be considered a substantial underdog against them.

I was a bit disappointed that MIN won their last game.  They had the easiest last 6 opponents but were teetering on falling out of the top 8.  Still could happen, they could be passed by both Detroit and Columbus if they lose 2, which would make me smile.

I don’t follow the draft discussion too much, but for this year I’ve read there are 3 players who stand out.  Regardless, the Steven Stamkos immediate-impact players are never down in the middle and late picks
