GDT - Game 20: Red Wings (9-7-3) at Kings (9-6-2) 10:00

After improbable back-to-back (convincing) wins over NSH (4-0) and VAN (8-3), DET are currently holding down the 8th spot in the West. The PP has finally found a pulse, Jimmy is on fire, and the Chinese Fire Drill in the "D" zone is becoming a rarity - - at least at JLA.
Of the Wings (9-7-3) 21 points, 15 were earned at home (7-4-1). DET are a meager 2-3-2 on the road. DET are at SJS tomorrow. In March, DET have 6 home games and 8 on the road. In April, 6 home and 7 road games. Altogether, DET play 17 road games and only 12 at the Joe. Frightening.
To make matters more interesting, Western Conference postions 4 - 11 are seperated by a mere 3 points. DET have got to start winning road games - - a road PP goal would help that cause.

Last game we somewhat stole from LA and they’ve been on a tear since.
Tonight just could well be payback time the way they’ve been playing lately.

PHX tied with us for 8th with same number of games played.
LA right behind, on fire, with games in hand.
Will there be any games this year that are NOT huge?
I vote no, not until your team is eliminated.

The Kings are the perfect example of how “any” team can win the Cup in Gary’s World. I hate the 10:00 pm crap.
Thanks Gary. A$$!

Any team that makes the playoffs and plays on the level the Kings did kinda sorta deserve the Cup. That team was firing on all 8 cylinders last spring.

I know, but, it doesn’t mean I have to like it.

I just have to tip my hat to the Kings, they won the first 3 games in all 4 rounds, they beat the top 3 seeds in conference, and largely dominated them finishing with a 12-4 record.
Dustin Brown was a great captain and played physical and chippy, something that will likely piss me off tonight, but there you go.

I love the late starts and I will miss the Wings making two west coast roadies each season if the inane four conference realignment goes through.
I’ll be at the game tonight. I’m a notorious game-wrecker, so I’m not optomistic about getting two points tonight.
Anybody else in attendance tonight?

I had a 16 hour day at work yesterday and a 9 hour stretch today. The odds of me watching this late game are about as good as the captain not being a game wrecker.
However, I’ll armchair coach it with you tomorrow and tell you exactly what Babcock SHOULD have done if they lose, or how the first star of the game won it for them almost single handedly. You don’t need to actually WATCH the games to be an expert. ; )

The Wings are 2-1-1 in their last four trips to Staples Center. Guess which two games I attended. ![]()

Thanks Okie!
We faced the “improbable” when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor…look how that turned out.
Injury List-Might be easier to list the 3 guys who are healthy.
Hat Tip to the Kings! Has anyone else caught the “A Day with the Cup” show on the NHL network? Several shows follow various LA Kings as they have their day with the Cup. The Dustin Brown segment is up on the Kings website. Pretty cool.
Prolly gonna miss the LB. HS Varsity Lacrosse season starts tonight.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.
