GDT - Game 19: Red Wings (8-7-3) host Canucks (10-3-4) 5:00

Late afternoon game today. VAN lead their Division (as usual), and had the day off yesterday. Luongo has been a freaking wall.
For DET, yesterday's game could not have gone better. The Wings took a 2-0 and didn't blow it, Jimmy pitched a shutout, DET tallied a PP marker, and nobody got hurt. Slump-buster or abberation?

Merci bo koo Okie.
I heard on xm radio the other day not to look at the canuckelheads good start so impressively. Many of their wins have been against the bottom dwellers of their division and only have a 500 record against teams with winning records. I know I am too lazy to dig up these stats myself but hey.
This will be a good test to see if we really have a quality backup golie who can be relied on to spell Jimmah through this asterisk ed season.

There are 7 teams between 17-19 points, most have a game in hand on Detroit.

G’morning, Jeff. Good to see the GDT this morning. Now, I know I can get ready for game day.
Slump-buster or abberation?
Love ya snarky, Jeff. lol That’s pretty much my thought after yesterday’s game. More of the good stuff.
[can’t find the Game Notes that lists today’s refs; maybe the same dorks from yesterday’s game.]
On This Day in Red Wings History…
On February 24, 1990
Steve Yzerman becomes the first player in Red Wings’ history to score 50 or more goals in three consecutive seasons and the third player to record his 1,000th career point.
Will not be in the LB today, 19. But I gotta tells ya, it is hard to find Wings fans anywhere near the juveniliciousness of the 19 so in spirit (and in spirits, ya know, like J-Gold and Guinness), GO WINGS.

McCollum’s numbers are scary bad. Do we ever catch a break that doesn’t involve a players bones or some other body part?

Mrazeks aren’t, but he didn’t get two shutouts his two games played so he isn’t getting a call-up, untrustworthy. Besides, it’s more important the Griffins who lead their division, stay in contention for a shot at the AHL playoffs.
Go Griffins!

So who is it that we are supposed to be pissed at? Holland or Babcock?
I realize as the GM Holland is supposed to be calling the shots, but, as head coach, does Babbles have a significant amount of influence regarding these decisions?

JImmy back in? Holy Crap, so McCollum is called up?
I really don’t follow, maybe had something to do about Mrazek’s schedule.

Thor Nelson-80 <———Minot native. Got to play hockey with him a couple years ago before my knees went kaput. The guy is an insane skater. Of course…he was skating against a bunch of us old out of shape guys trying to relive the glory days we never had.

Why call Mrazek up? Jimmah’s going to start, so let McC sit on the bench.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.
