GDT - Game 18: Red Wings (7-7-3) host Predators (8-5-5) 7:00

The Wings are 0-3-2 in their last five games. During that stretch they’ve scored just one power play goal and have blown two-goal leads three times. DET's special teams may take the prize for oxymoron of the year; the PP is beyond pathetic at 12.8% (28). The PK is just as bad, or worse, at 75.7% (25). Assuming, on average, DET are assessed 4 minors a game (I don't know what the actual average is), it is almost certain 1 goal for the opposition. Both are guaranteed momentum killers.
Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game.

Detroit Tops 2013 List Of America’s Most Miserable Cities
Well it certainly is when the Wings are losing.

WWSD?
What would Scotty do?
I think he would try something bold, as he did 17 years ago.
The trap defense.
But what do I know?
Posted by w2j2 on 02/23/13 at 10:18 AM ET
6 / 18 starting skaters still out to injury.
And if that were just one or two players, and we were playing as poorly as we are now, I would join the cavalcade of fans screaming to hang them all, to make sure we get the right one.
I have decided that no matter what, make the playoffs or not, win the Cup or not, this season has a big, ole hairy assed ASTERISK beside it either way. It is a joke, and the Wings may be the punch line.
It’s not that I don’t care, but I am just not gonna get too torqued aboot it , one way or the other. Tonight, my favorite hockey team takes the ice, and as painful as it might be these days, I get to watch.
I don’t HAVE to, I GET to.
Let’s go Red Wings

I can agree that we expect more that we should given the injuries etc….
But I am still at a loss for some of our line combos. If there is any way we can give Pavel at least one linemate who doesnt have cinder blocks on the ends of his arms, that’d be a step in the right direction.

That’s a good post and reflects other similar posts this year about being a Wing a Holic.
I still have a 14 or 16 inch Red Wing magnet on my car. Why? I’m still a Red Wing fan.
Posted by RWBill from the open bar on The Hasek. on 02/23/13 at 12:01 PM ET
Still got a Red Wings desktop. Just stuck some 6” Wings logos in the backwindow of my car that I made at work…er…ah….tested the capabilities of our new sticker macking machine…
Kinda look at the Wings the same as my kids…yeah they piss me off some of the time. But at the end of the day I freakin love them and will continue to support them. Even if they come to me again and say “Dad, my girlfriend’s having a baby. It’s probably mine…” ..... again…

Nothing deters us from our passionate persuit of the pleasure and pain of being a Detroit Red Wing’s Fan. From the womb to the tomb. I’m all in. Period.
Thanks OKie.

Pavs needs to sue for abandonment and non support.
I am all in with ya Kate. The first game I remember is the last game of the1966 Cup finals when the pocket rocket hand passed the puck past Crozier for the cup winning goal in OT. My dad almost kicked in the TV screen he was so pissed.
I’m an addict that will always crave Red Wing hockey in good times or in bad.Sigh

Mursaks comments about being waived sure sound like hes giving up on being a Wing…. thats gotta suck for him.

I’m all in too (except for buying any NHL products this year).
NHL Network tonight so I’ll get to watch (unless they change their minds again).

I still haven’t gotten over that one. And people say today’s refs are worse.
Posted by calquake on 02/23/13 at 04:04 PM ET
Nah Cal they always sucked. They fellated from the Habs to the Flyers, back to the Habs, to the islanders, to Gretz and Mario to Mario’s baby boy Rosby. Must be something deep seated back in the Jolly Jack Adams days to have the Red Wing hate all this time ![]()

Muchas gracias, Jeff. Good to see the GDT this afternoon. I probably won’t be in the LB tonight as I’m pretty sure I’m set on seeing the game at Aria with family from out of town. What is wrong with people??? I have a Wings addiction (even if they’re sucky). Don’t you friggin understand?

... on a personal note,
anyone look’n for snow?
I got plenty here in central Wisconsin.
this was last Saturday, 02/16:

then it snowed some more yesterday / last night, so ...
this is today, 02/23:

(I put the shovel in there for a perspective. Yes, there is that much!
The pile at the side of my drive is about 10-feet high.
I moved here from Michigan 17 years ago and I think this is the most snowfall in a winter in those years. Probably over 50-inches if we added all the individual storms so far this year; obviously some has settled in between storms but the last two weeks we’ve had a bunch!)
now, ...

stoney, would LOVE to have some, nay darn all, of that feeding the tributaries leading into the Colorado River. Lake Mead here in Southern Nevada look woeful.

Stoney:
That looks like the snow we had when we were kids!
And it looks as if you shovel it by hand!

Playing catch up. Back online after a little trout slaying trip to the Eastern Sierras. Fish died, no one cried.
Looks like the boys have been massaging a losing streak in my absence. No better time to turn it around and put an end to the annual February slump.
I believe it was some Command Master Chief that once said, “I’m not a hockey fan, I am a Wings fan”. Smart guys those CMDMC’s.

Still missing five starters, plus Colaiacovo, who I did not include just because he’s so new we weren’t used to him being a starter.
