GDT - Game 12: Red Wings (6-4-1) host Kings (3-4-2) 12:30

Third game in four days for DET; a 5-1 beatdown against STL on Thursday, and a 2-1 "special teams" win yesterday against the Oil.  Nevermind what I said yesterday:  "If todays tilt is a special teams contest, you have to like the Oil's chances."  Obviously I have no clue what the hell I am talking aboot.  DET scored two PP goals, and much more importantly only gave up one goal against on the PK.  The Wings killed four penalties in the third period, including a five-on-three power play that lasted for 1:07 - - the Oil didn't even manage a shot during that sequence.

The defending Cup champions last played Thursday at NSH, losing 0-3.  The Kings are sitting in 13th place today, they cannot score, at 2.11 G/G, and their "D" isn't too shiny either, 3.00 GA/G.

One statement I did get right yesterday:  "Who the hell knows which DET team will show up today."

A win today would give the Wings their first 3 game streak of the season.  LGRW

One statement I did get right yesterday:  “Who the hell knows which DET team will show up today.”

We never know. One thing I do know. I am really liking all the young-ins.

Thanks OKie.

Bitches.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

It made me sad to hear how old Datsyuk is…

I am going into this with low expectations, due to nothing more than 2nd game of back to backs.

I am more than willing to be wrong. Maybe Mrazek tosses a shutout.

I thought Howie was playing? In any case, I just hope we get at least a point….I prefer 2 obviously, but back to back games are difficult and the Kings did not play yesterday…

i’ll just look at it this way. LA will be rusty from the days off, we are in a groove. Weather the storm, score first, keep the crowd in it. It’s gameday and im making my famous homemade gourmet fat burgers. Juicy, and drippin’ down your arm goodness.

GAME ON!

I remember one of the Diggers saying yesterday that Jimmy was going again today - - but I could be wrong.

No hot dogs?  Sacrilege.

Andersson was good.  Red was right about Lashoff, Stu Jr. he is.

I may look this up, we had to get the first win of the two yesterday whatever the physical cost, but I wonder how much Datsyuk and Zetterberg had to exert on PK yesterday?  Would be nice if they could be rested on PKs, but whatever works.

Would also be nice if there was an easy source to see records on 2d day of back to back, which I bet there is but I don’t know what that is.

Zetterberg’s strong play leading Red Wings

Least expected stat:
Detroit leads St Louis with identical records due to head to head competition.  Who among us woke up on Jan 20 to think that was going to happen in 10 games?

Kate, I like the young-ins too.  Was hoping for Mrazek today just so I could get a look.  But Jimmah was sharp yesterday and he’s the main man.

Points, points, points.  Let’s get two more!

And Pav and Z get paid enough to play as much as we need ‘em to.  That’s their job.

LET’S GO RED WINGS !!!!!

Red was right about Lashoff, Stu Jr. he is.

During the Blues game either Babs paired Lashoff with Kronwall, or they ended up being partners in changes; Lashoff & Kronwall skated well together.  Kronner was jumping into the play knowing Lashoff was staying home.
