A scoring drought in mid season of a few games is hardly noticeable, but at the beginning of the season every fan has his eyes glued on that “first goal” stat.

Alfredsson looked dangerous in early game and in Carolina could have had a couple.  I was only half paying attention the last half of the PHX game with the Tigers playing Game 5 at the time, but it looked like Alfie had a bit of a rough go.

On paper we appear to have an offensive upgrade over last year, but that hasn’t shown up on the ice or the scoreboard yet.  Babs may start shifting lines, and if something good doesn’t consistently show up from Bertuzzi and Samuelsson every fan is going to complain about not having NyQuist up on the Big Team.

It took maybe 5 games for Hossa to get his first goal in Detroit, if I remember an OT winner.  That seems like an eternity at the beginning of the season, so here’s hoping Alfie gets a couple of bounces real quick.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y.
