Do You Deserve This Dynasty?

Mike Milbury said before Game 6 that the Wings were professional closers, that few teams had the ability to finish a series like Detroit.

He either lied or he’s just simple.  Three straight games with a chance to slice a jugular.  Three straight episodes of disgust.

If the Wings want this dynasty, they win tonite.

If they are desperate instead of self-righteous, they win.

If they are quietly contemplating another wasted opportunity and feeling bile start to creep, they win.

And if they lose?  To this team?  Then they don’t deserve your stress.  Not this year.

Drink up if you have to.  Game 7s suck ass and we know that better than anyone.  Here’s hoping the trend stops now.

Top 4 in the East are all playing golf by the 2nd round.

Just the top 3 are playing golf.

That’s south of Iraq, just between Normandy and Africa, right?

No, no.  As an American living in Europe, you should have asked me.  Swederussia is halfway between Molvania and Czechistan.  Just past Luxemburgh, you should take a left at Lower Saxondale.  If you get to Portugaul, you’ve gone too far and should turn around.

I don’t know why most Americans think geography is hard.

Wings 102 points.  Lowest remaining seed in West.

Pens 101 points.  Highest remaining seed in East. Parity parody.

My friends, a great battle awaits us.  In this crucible of blood and fire, the mettle of men will be proven, wills of iron forged, and fearsome reputations announced far and wide.  Warcries will echo from ocean to ocean, the relentless drumbeat will call faithful warriors to the battle standard, and they will rally round their comrades, declaring their fearlessness in the face of all odds.  The timid will turn tail and run, while the courageous shall gird their loins and plunge with wild abandon into the fray, caring not about life or limb but only the power and the glory and the bloody berserkering of all-out war.  With the terrible engines of war, they will strike fear in the hearts of their enemies, with speed and firepower and toughness they will dispatch them, and with no mercy they shall send their lifeless bodies to Hell.  Then, when the smoke has cleared and one team stands victorious on the ice, raising their weapons above their heads and letting loose with a fearsome cry, the awestruck crowd will behold them, and in hushed tones they shall whisper to themselves…

“F*cking Red Wings.  Those creeps can roll, man.”
