A new year. A new network. The same commissioner which means the same pathetic, tired excuses for not having the world’s only sports network as the true and just host for hockey.
But hey, the house that Costas built can pretend they’re a hockey haven, eh? Hey, Gary? Did Lorne Michaels tell you we need a shootout in tonite’s game too? Just wondering.
Whatever. I started writing this Live Blog at 2300, something like 12 hours before the game actually starts because I literally overslept the last one. I picked it up again this morning at 0600, two hours before it starts at 8pm. I don’t understand it and I don’t expect you to either. But here’s something to chew on: we used to hate Dallas when they were in our division. That was a nifty little venom-fest for a few years with crazy Eddie and fat Hitch and Choppers and the gang. Then they went away. Some of the bile remained and now everybody hates Steve Ott. But that’s league-wide and I try to avoid lumping us in with fans of other teams because I’m pretty sure we don’t share their…sophistication.
And we’ll hate them again soon, Dallas that is. Because Gary’s bringing them back to us, placing them in the Konstantinov division with us and Baby Brother and Bubba and the Hummers and the Brittle Bitches and the token Candian(en)s plus Pinky. So we can be all apathetic and shit when it comes to hating the Stars tonite, but that’s gotta change and we’ll make that transition over the summer.
Meanwhile?

Things are good here. The big difference between life in the NW as opposed to socal—I do all my cycling in the spring and summer, but can totally relate to the “addictive” aspect. Once fall gets here, thing are pretty much grey and wet though.

After an unenforced absence due to the in-laws lack of internets, I’m back to watching down the pipes in beloved hd.
Meanwhile, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Flip has been our stand-out non-goaltending hero so far this season, am I wrong?
Also, I’ve not seen this “kid line” out there, but i’m hearing rather good things about Nyquist, how do we feel about them/him/it?

Nyquist, how do we feel about them/him/it?
Fearless on the attack. Drives the net always. Still adjusting to NHL speed in terms of when to make moves, but his vision is good enough that he’s not out of place at all.
Flip and Huds are crazy tonite.
