Bye OLN, Hello NBC and Don’t Try To Pretend It Shouldn’t Be ESPN Because You Know It Should Be

A new year. A new network. The same commissioner which means the same pathetic, tired excuses for not having the world’s only sports network as the true and just host for hockey.
But hey, the house that Costas built can pretend they’re a hockey haven, eh? Hey, Gary? Did Lorne Michaels tell you we need a shootout in tonite’s game too? Just wondering.
Whatever. I started writing this Live Blog at 2300, something like 12 hours before the game actually starts because I literally overslept the last one. I picked it up again this morning at 0600, two hours before it starts at 8pm. I don’t understand it and I don’t expect you to either. But here’s something to chew on: we used to hate Dallas when they were in our division. That was a nifty little venom-fest for a few years with crazy Eddie and fat Hitch and Choppers and the gang. Then they went away. Some of the bile remained and now everybody hates Steve Ott. But that’s league-wide and I try to avoid lumping us in with fans of other teams because I’m pretty sure we don’t share their…sophistication.
And we’ll hate them again soon, Dallas that is. Because Gary’s bringing them back to us, placing them in the Konstantinov division with us and Baby Brother and Bubba and the Hummers and the Brittle Bitches and the token Candian(en)s plus Pinky. So we can be all apathetic and shit when it comes to hating the Stars tonite, but that’s gotta change and we’ll make that transition over the summer.
Meanwhile?
It’s a Live Blog, bitches.

Could see that coming with the way the Wings were playing around with the puck and not getting it deep in the Stars’ zone.

Evening y’all, I’m 38,000 feet above Montana or something on the way back to Seattle from Detroit and got the ken kal calling the game on my phone. Damn I love the future. Just heard te stars score that 4th goal, but good to see the wings putting up 5 so far.

Well, that’s typical of a Gulutzan coached team. Stubborn persistence.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Gustav with the nice read and the intercept. Not sure it was offside, but he should know better than to dance crossing the blue line.
