from Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News,
It’ll be even more special and exciting when the game is in Vancouver in January.
But the Red Wings game against the Canucks on Tuesday was still expected to be special for Detroit rookies Dennis Cholowski and Michael Rasmussen.
The two are Vancouver natives.
“It’s pretty cool playing the Canucks, for sure,” Rasmussen said after Tuesday's morning skate. “A cool experience.”
Rasmussen’s parents had season tickets to Canucks games throughout his childhood.
“I want to say (Section) 117, about 15 rows up, seats 1 and 2,” Rasmussen said. “The Sedins (twins Daniel and Henrik) were my favorite players growing up. Then the two President trophies (league’s best record) seasons, those years, and going to the Stanley Cup Finals (in 2011), those were memories of my childhood, for sure.”
DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today recalled center Christoffer Ehn from the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
Ehn began the season with Detroit and skated in the team’s first nine games, making his NHL debut on Oct. 4 vs. Columbus and registering his first NHL assist on Oct. 11 vs. Toronto, prior to being assigned to the Griffins on Oct. 25. During his time in Detroit, Ehn logged one point, a plus-two rating, four penalty minutes and seven shots on goal in 9:36 average time on ice. In five games with Grand Rapids this season, the 22-year-old has picked up four points (1-3-4), a plus-five rating, two penalty minutes and three shots on goal. He helped the Griffins pick up five of a possible six points over the weekend (2-0-0-1) after back-to-back multi-point games, which included his first AHL goal and assist on Nov. 3 vs. Milwaukee.
