And Then There Was One…Live Blog Our Last Best Chance For A Title

Looking back to October we had two teams with legitimate title hopes (the Wings, of course, and the Tigers), another giving us plenty of reason to be optimistic and one more that I was actually hoping would stay locked out forever.

Down went the Tigers.  Drew Brees and a Detroit secondary with the hands of William Tell finished off the Lions today.  The Pistons are back and none of you care, which makes you good Americans.

So, as it should be, that leaves the Wings.

And tonite’s matchup is relevant because one way or another it’s gonna happen again in May.  Before the midget shrew hands over the Twelfth at the Joe in front of 20K plus 19 and the sad Pens, the manger baby’s Wings will have to get by baby brother. And that’s gonna be some series, sister.

So the preview part two continues this evening and for some reason Jim Fuching Howard played last night, pushing the Conk into a tight spot tonite.

And you can take that in any direction you want.

It’s a Live Blog, bitches.

Not feeling good about this one, a lot of energy spent coming back last night, plus no Howard plus being in Chicago is not a good mix.

A reason for optimism I say. The Conk?  Well, law of averages, and, blah blah blah.

Let’s Roll.

In war news; on this date 1940 in the UK: Butter & sugar are now rationed. Sugar: 12oz/week, butter: 4oz/week. Special exemption: hotels may serve butter & 2 sugar cubes with tea.

Whats the world coming too if one can’t have sugar with ones tea? drink coffee, black. maybe with a little Irish mixed with it.

Seems every where I look, there is a story about how the flightless birds are struggling along with all the injuries.  Makes one wonder if conditioning is the problem.

Could really use a win tonight, I know the pharmaceuticals are not doing the trick to relieve the pain.

2 hours of the Douche Canoe is NOT how I want to end my weekend….oh well, at least Helm and Homer will be back in the game. That’s at least 2 goals reviewed and negated.

On a happier note, I am looking forward to BaConkadonk showing us some magic. He might just be ready to impress….and with the Dad’s on the trip it might inspire them to carry last night’s energy forward.

5-3 Wings

One of hockey’s greatest attributes is its sounds. For me, one of basketball’s detriments is its sounds…...thump, thump. squeak, squeak (shoes on hardwood), thump, thump, squeak , squeak….it is as unwatchable to me as the grunting female tennis players.

Naw.  They’re just getting old.  Stats prove that when a team gets older, they are more prone to injury.

Between the last game against Chicago and what happened last night… the old “what goes around comes around” pendulum has to be swinging in the Wings favor tonight…. right guys?  ...... Right?

Its time to slap that baby-faced-cabbie-puncher in the mouth. LGRW

Have a hopefully sucessful L-bee. I will be starting a new season of hockey myself tonight and will read the blog later.

Jimmah needed a break after last nights debacle. On the winning goal he looked like a double amputeed holding his glove up like he was begging for spare change. Maybe Kane will supply some tonight smirk. have a good one 19 and Go Wings and Go Chiefs ( my team).

Perhaps the single most disturbing thing about living in the Portland area is the vomit-inducing 24/7, 365 days a year coverage of all things Blazers and all things NBA.  Whether it’s Blazer players carrying weapons onto airplanes, intoxicated and harrassing convenience store clerks, involved in dog fighting, flipping off the home fans during a timeout, or their billionaire owner stiffing the taxpayers, we’ve seen it all.

Yeah, that NBA is one classy league.  And don’t ya know that slimey ass petry-dish refugee Gary Bettman and his army of empty suits wants the NHL to become just like that.  No thanks.

Thanks, Master Chief!

I will not watch on TV.  Will not listen to Icky Eddie Olcyck drooling over the Hawks. Will listen to Ken and Paul on radio.

Helmer and Homer back - rested and hungry!

And a Conk looking for redemption.

And Little Brother pissy over a three-game losing streak. Hopefully, they’ll be clutching their sticks a little too tight.

Sounds like a good time for a big Red Wings win to me.

Man, your avatar pic is abso-friggin’-lutely awesome.  And it reminded me of this story:

Howe also has an impact on media members, as The Hockey News’ Ryan Dixon recently pointed out in a THN.com article. Gordie was telling stories and explained the following event while he was in the WHA: “‘There was a Russian hacking away at Wayne all night and he was getting really frustrated,” Howe said. “I told him, ‘The next time you get the puck, bring it up right wing. When you hear heavy breathing, get out of the way.’ ”

Howe leveled the Russian with a devastating check. As the Russian trainer tended to his prone player, the WHA team changed lines. “We were sitting on the bench and I said, ‘Damn,’ ” Howe remembered. “Wayne asked,
‘What’s wrong, Gord?’

“I said, ‘He’s getting up.’”

Holy hell, is there an FSD feed available?  I appreciate the efforts by NBC to provide more hockey coverage (saw the Dartmouth v. RPI game on NBCSN last Friday night and I completely enjoyed that as Dave Strader and Ken Hodgson called that game) but Milbury and Olczux’s predictable Cawk-gobbling is just gross.
