Update from the morning skate in Chicago: Nicklas Lidstrom won’t play tonight because of the sore lower back that kept him out of Sunday’s game in Columbus. Lidstrom skated here, but the team is taking no chances. There’s a chance he won’t play in Saturday’s regular season finale as well, though Mike Babcock said he will play if he’s healthy.
Oh, and it appears Crazy Dom decided not to skate today after taking the boys out for a feast last night. And hey, if you’re not gonna skate on Thursday, why skate on Saturday?
Babcock also said that Chris Osgood, who’s starting tonight, might also start on Saturday. He said Dominik Hasek is fine, but didn’t really say why Hasek wouldn’t start on Saturday, if in fact he doesn’t play. The Wings’ first playoff game might not be until next Thursday, so if Hasek is healthy, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t start Saturday.
Not a problem. Not a problem. Not a problem. Not a problem. Not a prob…..Everything’s gonna be Ohhhh-Kaaaay.
I feel better. Don’t you?
Ted Kulfan is concerned. And you know as well as I do that when he’s concerned that’s when he’s at his journalistic best.
Obviously, the Wings won’t be going very far if Lidstrom and Hasek aren’t 100 percent.
Holy…I hadn’t considered that, Ted. Man. Deep digging indeed.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
