All Routes To Mankato Are Closed: There’s A Killer On The Road

"Little House" never scared me. Sure, when Mary went blind and that little skank Nellie started tricking on her 16th birthday? Disturbing.  But never scared, really.  It wasn't a scary show. It was family. It was Pa battling a few broken ribs to protect the clan from savage rats. It was Mr. Angel, wasted on corn whiskey but lovable. It was Albert with the lisp stoned to the bejesus belt on morphine up in the hay loft.

The Ingalls sisters stayed grounded.  And we loved them for it.  But they never had to deal with the likes of a really bad man.

Well, tonite they do. Tonite, Little House is back in a stirring return on FS-Detroit, brought to you by the Bernstein Law Firm and that idiotic sports store who claims "the strike is over."  And don't you think for a second it's going to be all giggles and light. No.

The Ingalls sisters leave the innocence of Walnut Grove and travel east to the mean streets of Detroit. It's there that Mary and Laura, together again because they each have agents now, find out that the world can be much more cruel and sinister than just the leering gaze of Nels Olsen at the tail end of a barn dance.  Tonite, it's the Ingalls sisters battling a serial killer, a sociopath, a wacked out toothless bearded bastard who wreaked havoc in the Rockies ten years ago and hasn't stopped killing since.

Little Half Pint and her blind dimwitted sister Mary take to the ice in Detroit tonite, a place they could have called home had they not elected to live together in harmony and song for the rest of their Cup-less lives.

Bring it ladies.  Our Serial Killer awaits and his brain is squirming like a frigging toad.  It's a live blog, bitches.

25?  Really?  Are you sure?  Well, we can certainly hope so.

Wings won’t be dominant as before, says Babcock, and we should get used to it.

“It was one of those games where the other team’s on top of you, we’re not getting any shots on net, we’re not having any O-zone time, we’re not winning a lot of faceoffs and yet, for the public watching, they probably thought we weren’t working hard,’’ Babcock said. “We were battling like crazy, we just weren’t doing anything with the puck and for those people that watch the Red Wings for a long time, that’s not what they’re used to seeing.

“But they better get used to it.’‘

Jimmy will have to be our best player at Chicago, again.  They are off to a good start.  And they don’t have Franzen, they have Hossa.

Fuchers’ got 50 goal hands and 50 goal motivation.  But we signed Franzen first.

FML.

Hossa has 50 goal motivation?  it didn’t seem like it when he was here.  then again, it was just a one year “why would he actually give a shit about the team” contract.

He scored 40 goals as a Red Wing. What do you remember?  Oh that’s right.. the shoulder injury he suffered late in the season that led to ONLY six goals in that year’s playoffs and then made it so he didn’t play a game until late November the following season.

He’s never scored 50 goals but he always shows up.

But we signed Franzen first.

Points per game (ppg)

Franzen:  0.58 ppg regular season, 0.83 ppg playoffs.
Hossa: 0.93 ppg regular season, 0.75 ppg playoffs

These are current numbers, so Holland’s data probably was different, but an interesting comparison nonetheless.  It is very rare to find a player who outperforms himself in the playoffs, far more rare to find one who makes his regular season self look like a bum.

On the other hand, Franzen’s regular season self is a bum.

There was some drama in Green’s announcement. He stood up and reached for the Michigan hat. Then he hesitated and reached for Tennessee. Then he got up and pushed a button on the wall that raised a projection screen. Behind the screen was a Michigan jersey with Green’s named and No. 27 hanging on the wall.

“I’m taking my talents to South Michigan.”

Patrick Eaves (for Filppula)-Pavel Datsyuk-Todd Bertuzzi

I wouldn’t mind seeing this play out in some form sometime, or more frequently.  I think Eaves has good offensive potential and has a quick, hard wrist shot.  He’s valuable on the PK and where he’s used, but I think has untapped offensive potential.

Not that I want Filpula’s knee to bother him more.  He and Helm left practice early and the team is not having a pre game skate tomorrow.  Rest, indeed, says Mike, they’ll be doing a lot more of that.

Nah, I was working the ZZ Top look pretty hard back then. I did have a fellow that looked like that “student-athlete” in the photo hit me in the mouth, because he didn’t like my looks.
