As if anyone’s unpuckered since the Olympic break.

Thanks, Red.

Khan at Mlive,

The Detroit Red Wings expect to be chasing the puck much of the game tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Joe Louis Arena (7:30, Fox Sports Detroit).

That’s just the way it is when you’re missing Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg and defending Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

The game is a mismatch in skill and talent, and Red Wings coach Mike Babcock knows his young, injury-riddled lineup’s best chance for success is to outwork the Penguins while showing determination and poise.

“We know tonight, or last game or every game we’ve played for a long time the other team is going to have more skill than us,” Babcock said. “So what? Skill doesn’t win, teams win. So let’s just get out there and do what we have to do.

Thanks, RedM.  Raising a mugful of Kona coffee to the GDT.  Slainte.

This is the second of three games between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. Penguins center Evgeni Malkin had a goal and two assists to lead Pittsburgh to a 4-1 win against Detroit at Joe Louis Arena on Dec. 14.

Recap of that December 14th game.  Wings didn’t have Zata in that game, but Dangles played.  Now, we have neither one of those guys and relying on a Calder Cup Champ patchwork of a team to try to beat the Pens?  [sigh]

Two points, Wings.  Go and earn them.

Two refs that, to the best of my knowledge, have not fuched over the Wings yet in one form or another.

That will most likely change tonight since Gary’s “model” franchise is in town.

Gary’s “model” franchise

Suck for approx. 3-5 seasons straight, acquire consecutive top 5 picks, given free pass on suspension worthy conduct during playoffs, win cups, rinse and repeat…

The pen(i)s have only gone 1 series more in the playoffs since our last meeting in 2009. They have had much more depth in that stretch with similar fates.

We can do this if we limit the d-zone mistakes.

So who’s up for bit of wagering before the game? No, not will the pens get multiple 5-3’s. That’s a given.

How about a little guess the next Wing to go on the Injured list? $5.00 a person winner takes all?

Hmmm .......I’m going with Howard shut eye

I’m going to say Babcock, his injury being sudden onset apoplexy.

Thanks Red!

I’ll be enjoying non-opinionated Rum this evening. It’s an import from an un-named distillery in some un-named country.

With all the oot of the box thinking I am surprised that Smith is not in goal with Tootoo showing Kronwall a thing or two on D.  Laughter, might break the confidence of Cindy Rosby.

The Quest for 23 continues…..(that’s a fact)

Bigger forwards than Chicago. A load to handle if they get inside.  We have to play them again later.
Am I the only one thinking it’d be a great thing to even get one point tonight?

14 games to go, 28 points on the table.

I will be there watching Cindy whine for penalties. A Red Wing win would be great, but in tough tonight.

But the shoe is on the other foot these days. It’s sure not a trap for our boys.
