Sweeping The Dive: Keys To Game 4

Very little needs to be said.  Virtually nothing needs to be addressed.  Osgood needs to be steady.  Uncle Mike’s Circus Line needs to take every fourth shift.  The Wings need to withstand the first ten minutes, get a lead and watch the Dive fold.

Above all, watch your backs boys.  The Dive, with one very notable exception, have never been a notably dirty team. But the frustration may be too much for them tonite.  But, really, above all else?

How can we lose when the number of wins to the Cup is represented by this guy?

Seeya Igor. Next?

A little bit of irony, but probably not coincidence.  The Anti-Digger is reporting that the most sought after Swede in the history of sought after Swedes is in Wing custody for the next few days, and that Igor Grigorenko is no longer in any Wing plans.

MacLeod on Brunnstrom

Brunnstrom will be picked up at the Denver airport by Ken Holland this afternoon and will watch the Red Wings/Avalanche game tonight with Detroit management. Brunnstrom will be in Detroit tomorrow where he’ll be shown Joe Louis Arena and have dinner with management. (Whether he travels to Detroit on the team plane or commerical airline is still being worked out, depending on what the league will allow.)

Brunnstrom is making three stops on this trip to North America, having visited Dallas already. His third stop hasn’t been announced, but my guess is it’s Montreal. That means Detroit is one of three finalists for the free agent.

It’s A Great Frigging Day For A Sweep

465 comments on the extended Game 3 Live Blog.  Went through some old administrative records and noticed something that might interest you: that’s a world record.  No blog post in the history of world-wide sports blogging has ever accrued that kind of commentary.

Back For Broom Day

Morning troopers.  We in the military use the term “out of pocket” from time to time. Sounds all official so we like it.  I’ve been “out of pocket” for 28 hours, but will be back posting later today.  I noticed the Dive bloggers found it interesting that I hadn’t jumped on the opportunity to tactfully remind them of their little deficit problem.  I’ll see what I can do to rectify that problem today.

Demoralizing The Dive In Denver: Keys To Game 3

Forget Floppa, or who’s in goal, or whether Adam Foote will finally show up tonite in some role other than painting the end boards with his jaw.

The keys to a victory tonite have everything to do with how the Wings play.  We know Denver’s going to be excited.  Little Lappy’s going to be running around and Petey’s gonna show some glimpses before the groin/ankle/foot/spleen…oops, forget the spleen…start acting up in the second.  And Three or Four, based on probability alone, isn’t going to give up 4 in forty.

Stand By For The Transplants

Watch out below Dive Fans.  Detroit residents and Wing fans are aware of the company, Superior Fish.  Kind of a “tradition” around Hockeytown parts.  Well, guess what SF’s shipped out the last few days, destination Denver?

Cases of octopus.  Several cases of octopus.

Giddy up.

Well…If I Have To

Well, the Dive bloggers seem to be gaining momentum today…picking up a little emotional steam, despite the fact that this series’ best forward (for Denver anyway) is now done.  A few of the Triple Bravos are getting a little spicey.

No Sympathy.  Smyth: Out

The hits just keep onnnnnnnnnn comin’ for the Dive.  Check this out.

St. James

Peter Forsberg is questionable, and Ryan Smyth is out with a foot injury.

Headline says broken foot.

We’ll have the Game 3 Keys posted in a little while.  But I have time, due to the 2200 start.  Thanks Gary.  Ass.

First…a few tidbits.

Looking Back At An A2Y Hero

Since A2Y was founded in 1977, we’ve posted 919,000 times.  Many of those posts were brilliant.  A large majority of them were juvenile inside jokes understood by only the 19 readers of this blog.

In honor of tonite, the 3rd chapter of the Saga of a Sweep, I’d like to take you back to 19 July of 2007, a day that truly defined this blog.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
