Girls Gone Woooooooo….The Ladies Behind ThePensBlog

I’ve been fooled like the rest of you.  For nearly two years I’ve been corresponding with them, exchanging “jobs”.  During the playoffs? Not so much. Pretty tense in both camps so…the wit gets degraded a bit.

But during the regular season, after a Wing loss in November or December, an email from Pensblog Staff would show up with a simple, “woooooo”.  And that was funny. It was good.

Now?  I’m a little shaken by what the interns have found.  What follows is a result of their 55 hour investigation.  What follows is an A2Y exclusive.

This Will Help

Looking to pass the time today?  Pissed off because I kinda called out Pavel?  Don’t fret.  Check out what Hippy Dave wrote this morning and join in.

Well Pavel?

So Pavel Datsyuk’s been testing the foot.  Every day for three straight days.  And he’ll undoubtedly test it out again at today’s morning skate.

Conventional thought: “He’s seeing if he can fit into the boot.  Seeing if he can make the sharp turns.”

My interpretation:  He’s determining how much it’s going to hurt.

Ok.  Now I’m Ready.

Pissy mood. Pouting around the house.  Starting arguments.  It’s the 24 hours until the Finals start mood swing.  I recognize the signs. I’m sure you do too. Heck, even a Blues fan knows the symptoms of the day-before-the-Finals-start bitch fest.

Oh. Woops.  Sorry.

What Is It About The Finals That Make Smart People Turn So Very Stupid?

Smartest thing I’ve ever posted on Twitter?  This:  “iwocpo: @Pensblog did you just recommend we follow @eklund ? Hey Dwayne, if you’re reading this…suck it.”

Just read this over on the Empire’s Home Page and figured it would be as good a place as any to start this biotch.

If you stuck Osgood on the Penguins, they probably don’t get out of the first round.

That’s from Seth Rorabaugh and I have no idea what well of idiocy he fell into.  That’s just asinine.

Twitter Updates From JLA

Bruce MacLeod and the CP’s Chris Johnston both report via Twitter that Nick Lidstrom is taking part in the morning skate.  MacLeod points out that Draper is also.

Johnston just noted that Hossa is out there too, but no Ericsson or Datsyuk.

Updated (Twitter is awesome) like 30 seconds later: Datsyuk’s out there.

Updated at 1145: Johnston reports Datsyuk isn’t moving much.

Updated 1150 from MacLeod:

Lidstrom is practicing as though he’s playing, partnered with Rafalski. Datsyuk is only subbing in on Filppula’s line, looks iffy right now.

“We Went Too Far…Too Far To Turn Back.”

Those are the words of the two women we showed you earlier

In an A2Y exclusive obtained by our joint intern bureau (the Ferris State, Delta College and Eastern Michigan branches), we’re very close to blowing people’s minds.  The hockey blogging world is about to be turned on its ear.  Due to a pending legal review at the direction of the Emperor, we can’t show you everything yet.  Nor can we reveal names or sources, yet.  But the lawyers have given us the go-ahead to provide a few excerpts leading up to the story’s full release at approximately 10am Saturday morning.

Injury Updates: Swede Expected To Play Game 1. Datsyuk Iffy.  Big Rig and Draper?  No Idea

Via Deep Digger captain Ansar Khan(!),

Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said Thursday that defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom should be ready to play in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals on Saturday. He said the status of Pavel Datsyuk, Jonathan Ericsson and Kris Draper will be determined on game day. Of the three, Draper seems the least likely to be ready for Game 1.

Mirtle: It’s A Detroit Dynasty

Again, Gary will love this too because you know how this would coincide with his nocturnal dreams of parity.

Any number of stats you can pick out since that point will blow you away, but I like this one best: Since Lidstrom joined the team as a rookie in 1991-92, the lowest Detroit has ever finished in the overall league standings is sixth, which they did in 1998-99. There were two other years Detroit was fifth in the NHL over those 17 years, and one fourth-place finish, but the other 13 seasons they were first, second or third.

And the Wings haven’t finished lower than third overall in a decade.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
