Hasek

Despite the blogging bluster and the idiocy of Drew Sharp, we still remember that Dominik Hasek retired as an icon, and one of the best goalies to ever play the game.

Niyo: Stand By For Sundin?

Bored talking about challenged Detroit sports writers who claim Uwe Krupp’s #4 should be hung from the JLA rafters?

Me too.  Got something better for you though.

John Niyo

I’ve been saying for a couple months now, but I do think there’s a decent chance Mats Sundin will be wearing a Red Wings uniform next year.

And when you hear Ken Holland talking about making a big free-agent splash, I think it’s what he’s suggesting.

Memo To Drew Sharp: We Have Questions

Updated below with the first Detroit media backhand to Sharp.

You know, I’ve given this a lot more thought than it deserves today.

But Drew Sharp must really think we’re stupid.  Naturally, by discussing this, we’re proving him right.  But the more I think about it the more it pisses me off.

Umm.  No They Shouldn’t.

Well.  He did it.  He went and did it.  Drew Sharp has proven himself the biggest idiot in Detroit.  What a title.  What a rise to the throne.  I’d like you to read the dumbest thing ever written by a Detroit columnist.

They should retire Hasek’s No. 39.

D stands for Detroit, where history means something.  It also stands for Denver, where it’s spit on.  In Sharp’s case, it stands for Dumbass.

Mystery Solved

By now you’ve read the National Post story claiming the officiating was slanted to favor the Pens during the Final.

I was overwhelmed by a sense that there existed a desperate need to keep this series going for the good of the game, no matter how far rule interpretations had to be stretched.

Possible?  I suppose.  Likely?  No.  As stated before, Little Gary doesn’t have the brains required to orchestrate a conspiracy like that.  However, diligent A2Y researchers have discovered the true reason the refs may have been convinced to call the series the way they did.

Hide Your Eyes Blues Fans….This One’s Gonna Hurt

Michael Rosenberg of Detroit’s Free Press, has a good look at Super Scout Hakan Andersson.  Interesting anecdotes, a story that had to be told. A casual Monday morning read.  Until you reach a paragraph toward the end.  Hell yes.

Crazy Train: Departing

Our Czech Miracle of Insanity is, allegedly, checking out.

Kulfan

The first personnel move regarding the Red Wings for next season likely will take place this morning.

The Wings have scheduled an 11 a.m. news conference at Joe Louis Arena at which goalie Dominik Hasek is expected to announcement his retirement.

Keep Your Enemies Closer

Late, breaking news into the A2Y news room.  Our interns on loan from Saginaw’s Delta College have been conducting exhaustive research all day.  The kind of research that must have been required to compile an in depth power point book report on the 2003 draft?

Of course not. But good damn research anyway.

Here’s what they found.  There are bloggers out there who don’t like you.  Do I mean the Wings? No. I mean you.  Personally.

Miss The Parade?

About fifty thousand others didn’t, and each of them had a video camera, and they all ran home to load it on You Tube.

For who?  You, that’s who.  Because Al Gore wanted it that way.

Remarks from Uncle Mike and players below.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome: wphoulihan@gmail.com
