Sergei Fedorov Back In The Wings Organization?

Blog: Abel to Yzerman By Paul

from Evan Jankens of 97.1,

The sub plot to Yzerman being hired is that there is a possibility that he could bring Sergei Fedorov back to work for the Red Wings. He and Sergei remain close plus these is a belief that Sergei is not completely satisfied in his current hockey position in Russia and could be very interested in coming back.

Fedorov's current job status is in question, but a source familiar with Segrei's situation believes he’s not completely satisfied with his current employment situation.

Could bringing back Fedorov to the Red Wings pave the way to have his number 91 raised to the rafters?

The Tale Of Two Stars

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

from Kevin Allen of USA TODAY,

Three days after last Christmas, Dallas Stars president Jim Lites shocked the hockey world by delivering an expletive-laced public shaming of Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin.

He called his two stars “(expletive) horse (expletive)” in an interview with two local reporters.

“We are a stars-driven league, and our stars aren’t getting it done,” Lites said. “It’s embarrassing.”

He added, “People hated playing against Tyler Seguin – they don’t anymore.”

Lites also said Benn “stirs the drink” but it wasn’t happening.

Almost four months later, it’s difficult to understand how that event took place.

Benn, Seguin and linemate Alexander Radulov are among the primary reasons why the Stars are moving to the second round of the playoffs for only the second time in the past 11 years.

Polling The Players

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

from the CP at TSN,

The pace and excitement of 3-on-3 overtime isn't just a thrill for hockey fans — NHL players love it too.

An Associated Press/Canadian Press survey of NHLPA representatives from all 31 teams found that 97 per cent of those polled enjoy the league's current overtime format.

The survey also shows there are other rules the athletes are less thrilled with, ranging from delay-of-game penalties to confusion about goalie interference.

And whole the 3-on-3 period is popular, Arizona Coyotes defenceman Kevin Connauton says the worst rule in hockey is resolving a game with a shootout when overtime fails to produce a winner.

"I don't really like the shootout," he said. "I think you just play 3-on-3 and eventually someone will score."
