Mudbugs Coach Wants His Name On The Stanley Cup

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

from the Shreveport Times,

They've snickered at his dreams before. Some still do and the future likely won't be much different. Scott Muscutt doesn't care. They said he'd never play junior hockey or university hockey, let alone professional hockey. He did all three. They said he'd never coach in the pros. He won a championship in his first season and collected his 200th career win Saturday when his Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs defeated Fort Worth 5-0. Now Muscutt, 35, wants to see his name on the Stanley Cup -- the top prize in professional hockey and one of the most famous trophies in the history of sports.

Briere Hurting

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

from the Buffalo News,

While his teammates enjoyed Tuesday off with South Florida diversions such as sunbathing and tennis, Buffalo Sabres co-captain Daniel Briere was back in Western New York, trying to figure out what's wrong with him. Briere is on hold because of a nagging and perplexing abdominal injury. He was sent home before Monday's shootout win over the Philadelphia Flyers to have an MRI and other tests performed. "He has received an injection in the area, and we'll see how he reacts and see how it goes from there," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "We'll probably know within a few days if he feels a lot better or feels the same."

Bertuzzi Should Stay Home

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

from the Montreal Gazette,

Twenty-five proud young men. And one cowardly thug. Twenty-five selections for Team Canada for whom you can make a good case, even if Adam Foote, Rob Blake, Shane Doan and Ed Jovanovski would not be on our team. And one major embarrassment who belongs in prison, not in Turin.
