All Eyes On Florida

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

from Kevin Allen of USA TODAY,

With the trade deadline set for 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, there is considerable interest whether the Panthers will re-sign Olli Jokinen, or whether they will attempt to trade him. Even those contenders who wouldn't attempt to trade for him have interest because a Jokinen trade could affect the balance of power. Among the teams that would be interested in Jokinen are the Calgary Flames and Ottawa Senators, both of whom have Stanley Cup aspirations. Another possible dark horse would be the Nashville Predators, who have been pondering the possibility of landing a big physical center almost from the start of training camp.
more...plus a word about the Wings interested in a rent-a-dman...

Trade Eve Talk- All Rumors

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

A little spice for hockey fans, not my normal M.O, but hey, I may be up late and back at it again very early tomorrow. Most of these were just word of mouth, etc... I may update this post later tonight, but remember, just rumors... and one is not even that! One rumor is Curtis Joseph going to the Leafs and Belfour going to the Bolts, but in my opinion you would think Tampa would want Joseph before Belfour. The craziest one which goes in the same category as Chelios to Montreal is Niklas Kronwall to the Rangers for Al Montoya. Lots of talk of Bertuzzi moving too...

Theodore To Avs

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

via Sportsnet,

The Montreal Canadiens have sent goaltender Jose Theodore to the Colorado Avalanche for goalie David Aebischer, Sportsnet has learned.
update 8:18pm, from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail,
Presumably, Avalanche general manager Pierre Lacroix thinks he can catch lightning in a bottle twice — and that in a different environment, Theodore can get his game, and career, back on track. The 29-year-old Theodore won the 2002 Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player, but he has not been able to duplicate that performance ever since.

Teams Contact Jonsson

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

via CKNW,

MOJO Sports Radio has learned the Vancouver Canucks have placed a call to Swedish defenseman Kenny Jonsson to see if he would or is able to play in North America. The Philadelphia Flyers are also said to have contacted Jonsson regarding his services. However, a Swedish reporter told MOJO that Johnson can not come over this season because he is under contract in the Swedish Elite League.
It hs been my understanding that Jonsson could not play this year according to the CBA and the he was still property of the Islanders. But with the lack of CBA information available, who knows!!!

Plans For Trade Day Thursday

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

KK will be a little different starting tomorrow morning, but only for the day. I will try to post the daily hockey talk early in the morning, probably up to about 9:00am, then the rest of the day will be dedicated to trade talk. Depending on how busy I am during this time period, I may not be able to respond quickly to emails or comments but I am sure you understand that. Each new trade will be posted as a separate topic or thread, to make any breaking trade easier to find. If the topic is a possible trade, I will update that thread as information breaks, but if the talk becomes official, it will get a new topic. Even though the trade deadline ends tomorrow at 3:00pm EST, some trades may not be official until an hour or so after the deadline so look for KK to get back to normal at about 5:00pm. As always, if you hear anything, please .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with a source and a link if possible.
