From TSN,

A Money League Again

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

from Allan Maki of the Globe and Mail,

Hey, can someone please explain how the Flyers are going to pay Daniel Brière $10-million (all figures U.S.) next season and how the Rangers were able to snap up two free-agent heavies, forwards Scott Gomez and Chris Drury?
Technically, we understand this can happen, and it did. Theoretically, though, we were led to believe the wicked ways of the NHL were as gone as Tie Domi. The Great Lockout was supposed to have corrected the league’s bad habits, made it a changed animal, the new it.

OK Colie, Turn On The Red Light

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

Mr. Campbell, start handing out fines if anyone signs after 9:30pm EDT.  You see, we have to get up early tomorrow to do this all over again, and again, and again…
Make the signings stop for the night.  The MSM would appreciate it to, they have deadlines to meet.
Thank you!

Niedermayer Update

Blog: KK Hockey By Paul

TSN has a scroll on their homepage stating Niedermayer about to announce his retirement.
I know a press confernece is just completing, but we expected this announcement after the signing of Schneider.

added 8:53pm, from the Anaheim Ducks,

I wanted to give Brian as strong as picture as I could. Brian has asked me to take time and think it through and make the proper decision. I’m trying to do a lot of things at once.

This isn’t something that sort of popped into my head a day after we won. Throughout the year, after the first season we had in Anaheim, and then the next year, you’re on the road and you have plenty of time to think about what you want to do with your career. I thought about something like this and after it happened, I would consider retirement. That’s where we’re at.

I’ll miss the people, the teammates. I think that’s a pretty special bond you have with those guys. You’re competing at a very high level. You need each other and trust each other. Playing at that level, I’ll miss that. There are guys in Canada who play till they’re 70 years old. The game is always there. I’ll miss that as well.
