...we could always talk Army/Navy? Nah. First half’s almost done and this game’s over. Scratch that idea. We could talk Les Miles to Michigan, as Kirk Herbstreit reported on ESPN this morning? Nope. Miles has a presser at 1:45 to announce he’s staying at LSU. One note on that: Michigan screwed themselves by opening their elitist idiot traps. If they’d stayed quiet, Miles would be theirs…after today’s game. Idiots.
Ok. The new schedule. The schedule we all wanted? Yeah. Getting closer to it anyway.
Dave at Gorilla Crouch is an ambitious dude. About a month ago he started sending out emails that sounded all official, suggesting Central Division bloggers join forces for one big, fat look at the Division Gary Gave Us. He laid out a schedule, wrote us some promotional verbiage and set the stage for a three-week bonanza.
I know. This is Bubba's year. It's his division. This is finally the season he waddles to the top of it and stays there for decades, establishing the dynasty in America's Mid South that we knew was coming down the pike. It's got to be frustrating for Barry Trotz, the Nashville faithful and the 6 Pred fans outside the Nashville area. Just when the geniuses were certain the Wings were ready to fade into mediocrity, they do the unlikely. I'm not talking about winning one game, or even 8. What we may be seeing is a philosophical transformation. First, the game...more deep ruminations (sorry Bubba..."thoughts") later. Andres Lilja and Brad Norton scratched. Lilja may never see the ice again in Detroit. I'm serious. Well, not completely serious. But considering the type of defense the Wings are playing, I can't imagine Mike Babcock is too willing to make even the slightest blue line change unless he has to (which he might...see below).
What a coincidence. The first full day A2Y is back in operation and who should come a callin? Ahhh, yes. Little Brother Bubba. The headline in the Daily Tennessean this morning? "Predators Have Strong Disdain For Detroit." Nice alliteration, Arlo. But, see, 90 percent of your audience has no idea what it means. It's ok. It's going to be ok. I'm sorry for teasing. As strongly worded as that headline may be, the story does nothing to back it up. I expected to read a quote from Steve Sullivan, mush-mouthedly making grand claims that the Central belonged to Bubba. Nah, this is as strong as it gets. Daily Tennessean/Jessica Hopp
"They are a good team, and no matter what they do in the offseason they are good," Vasicek said. "They have showed that in the last 10 years."
